The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) has decided to charge its citizens a ‘cleaning tax’ to lift trash bags from outside their homes.

Islamabad Mayor, Sheikh Ansar Aziz, has approved the tax today, which will be applicable across the city.

So from now on, every household in Islamabad will be charged a fixed monthly fee for the collection of garbage.

The residents of government quarters and bungalows will pay between Rs. 300 and Rs. 1000 while the fee for private-owned houses will range from Rs. 400 to Rs. 4000, depending on the size of the house.

Here in Sweden, this facility is provided free of cost by the commune because they know how to use the trash. It is in fact a valuable raw material for recycling, district heating, and bio fuel.
But we as citizens, sort all our trash in categories
  1. colored glass
  2. glass
  3. soft plastic
  4. hard plastic
  5. biodegradable material
  6. Packing material
  7. magazines and newspaper
  8. metal (cans etc)
  9. household trash (burnable material)
  10. Batteries, Cells
  11. Electric bulbs. tube lights etc

So we do the hardwork but then the communes ensures it to regularly take away the trash and empty the bins.

And it does not end here, for all medical refuse like syringes, needles, medicine (expired) or throw away stuff like bandages etc, we are provided special plastic bags from the nearest medical store and we have to leave that refuse there. This keeps the society disease free and hence less stress on people and govt.

We have this in Lahore. Housing societies charge for taking garbage.

And that Turkish company only clean walled city/old Lahore?

Fees are fair. Same should be done in other cities.

We have this in Lahore. Housing societies charge for taking garbage.

In Germany "garbage collection tax" is charged from every household be it a village or a city by the local "garbage management agencies" in their respective areas. Once a week these agencies collect the garbage from every household, even garbage containers (of various sizes) are provided by local garbage collection agency to every household, which these households place outside of their houses on the day of garbage collection during the week which are then made "empty" by the sophisticated garbage collection trucks of the local garbage collection agency.

Garbage collection containers look something like this,

Why is it that only Islamabad need cleaning ?

Another proof that clueless idiots are running affairs in Pakistan.

No two houses generate same amount of trash. it would be very unfair to charge same amount to every house.

Focus should have been on reducing garbage, not exploiting the habit of garbage generation, into any opportunity to extort more money from an over taxed nation.
Besides, If people have to pay for every thing, than they shall also have freedom to hire people of their own choice.

Rules of developed nations are not applicable, because they rely too much on their system of education and trust in it's people.
