Reservation for SC/ST in promotions.

I dont have any objection if govt spends all its money to uplift poor people but caste based reservation is one of worst thing happened to our country..how foolish our policy makers are !! Merit has no meaning even in promotions .. Society should rise to end this evil

who will rise against reservations mate?? the person who is a beneficiary will certainly never oppose the move & the person at the receiving end will be seen as anti-reservation/anti-poor/anti-SC or ST. So there is no way in the foreseeable future that reservation will be done away with as any such move will be threatening for the ruling party or any party for that matter.

The question is about reservations on promotions.

So that they can come to positions of power. If more of people belonging to oppressed castes come to important positions, the perception about them will change.

Let's be realistic guys.. this will not happen. Govt will not be able to conjure up two thirds of the votes in both houses of the parliament to pass this bill. Even Mulayam Singh is not willing to support this cause. It's just a campaign tool for congress.. to go to general public during the election & cry wolf.

In a city municiple if there are 23 wards then 12 is reserved for women ,only in 2 or 3 wards we can select the candidate of our choice ..remaining all are reserved !! Thats how far this reservation has gone ...its not by the people or for the people ...its only for reserved people

I'd like to know how many SC/STs are there in this forum and of those how many oppose reservations. Most probably most SC/ST people cannot even afford a internet or computer. so all those belonging to forward caste are jumping up and down here. Government job is the right place to provide reservation. All the forward castes have had it easy till now. So deal with it now.Caste is not only about poverty but also about social stigma. Unless more SC/ST people come to more important positions the discrimination is here to stay.

there is already free education, free books, 49% reservation in colleges ,reservation in getting jobs ......now you want to give them reservation in promotions as well .......

oh.. it's just a tactic to avoid then. To be honest.. i don't think many parties would be interested apart from BSP & Congress. Maybe parties from TN might support though..

they won't it is just a upper cream layer of reserved which is getting benefit over and over again..the people who are actually suffering by that I mean the people you see as working sweepers house maids, labourers and begging on railway stations are not .....if reservation is to be imposed it should be on economic basis and that too one time only ..not on every single fcuking step..reservation is making people work less and is going to ruin the country in long run ....
