Reform UN Security Council to Maintain its Credibility: PM Modi

UN (read P5) won't be able to resist the pressure forever and when the time for reforms come I hope India is ready

.

Why not? And of course world has changed. UN need to expand and reform for more better economical environment and for world peace. How it's even fair to ignore India Japan Germany and Brazil ? It's a joke. Today G4 Economy is so strong than it was in 70 years ago. That too China don't deserve to represent itself as voice of Asia. All Asian powers are waiting to pound China due to their bullying.

No one can stop us from getting our rights we deserve. May not in a year but it's coming in this term of our PM

.
It's our right. World is changed. India is a global player and promising economy

global player according to India.. in real India has nothing to do with the world except business nor even involve in any global challenges, nor military to military, nor involve in conflicts, nor you see anywhere India in any any global level issues... a country with 60 - 70 population under poverty line.. a country who is heavily dependent on foreign countries for arms trying permanent seat to UN ? BIG LOL

If its of not much relevance then why are the chinese and the pakistanis so butthurt about it. Go mind your own business. 1/6 of the world population is in India, and hence its our right to be a part of the security council

.
Genocidal maniacs who burn little dalit girls in public don't deserve a say on how the world is run.

.
Uh, how will letting Modi sit at the P5 table bring any credibility at all? He's literally the only leader there who is primarily known for mass murder (of Indian Muslims), how will that bring credibility for the P5?

If anything that will cause the P5 to lose further credibility in the Muslim world, where the conflict zones primarily are.

In any case we already have the P5 + 1, and the extra one is Germany.

East Turkestan. No need to say any more.

May be according to you . For more understanding let me put some hard hitting facts which of course you won't agree :)

Why India should be in UNSC as permanent member ??? Along with other G4 countries ? Japan Germany and Brazil

India's population is equivalent to 17.5% of the total world population . India, which accounts for 18 percent of the world's population, is projected to reach 1.5 billion people in 2030 and 1.7 billion in 2050.India is the second most populous country in the world, with over 1.271 billion people (2015), more than a sixth of the world's population. ( 7 billion : world population ).

Forbes : Economic Growth And India's Global Rise :
"Worth placing the progress of the Indian economy in a global context. Using International Monetary Fund data, India is now growing at 7.46 percent. Last year the World Bank assessed that the Indian economy had become the world’s third largest in purchasing power parity terms. This year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimated that in real terms, the Indian economy—today the eighth largest by this measure—would become the world’s third largest by 2030. And this year, China’s growth has slowed, making India now the fastest-growing major economy, while other BRICS like Brazil and Russia have slowed, too. These external developments have made India look brighter by contrast.

India has become a $2 trillion economy now.According to a World Bank report, India's GDP crossed the $2-trillion mark in 2014 and at present stands at $2.067 trillion.
In just seven years, India has added one trillion to its economy.Going by income, India is still in the lower middle income category.India's gross national income per person has risen to $1,610, which converts to Rs 1,01,430 by present exchange rate.India is among the world the fastest growing economies this year

PPP is used to compare economies and incomes of people by adjusting for differences in prices in different countries to make a meaningful comparison.India has displaced Japan to become the world's third biggest economy in terms of purchasing power parity (PPP), according to a World Bank report released on Tuesday. The 2011 round of the bank's International Comparison Program (ICP) ranked India after the US and China. The last survey in 2005 had placed the country on 10th place.India's share in World GDP in terms of PPP was 6.4% in 2011 compared with China's 14.9% and the US' 17.1%, the latest ICP showed. The survey covered 199 economies.
"The United States remained the world's largest economy, but it was closely followed by China when measured using PPPs. India was now the world's third largest economy, moving ahead of Japan," the report said.

India’s growth rate is expected to rise to 7.5 per cent this year and next, making it one of the fastest growing economies in the world, according to the IMF latest economic health check.

The other Asian giant China’s economy is slowing to a more sustainable pace – 6.8 per cent GDP growth in 2015, and 6.3 per cent in 2016, according to the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Regional Economic Outlook for Asia and the Pacific.

Of all the fast-growing BRIC countries, only India stands strong right now. Its economy seems perfectly structured to handle our delicate, and dangerous, global market

year and a half ago, emerging markets fell into chaos when the Federal Reserve signaled that the American economy had improved enough to end its asset-buying program, and investors began pulling out of foreign markets.
India was in a vulnerable place then - its current account deficit had been at 6.9% in late 2012, and outflows hit the economy hard. Plus, inflation was on the rise and growth was stagnating.

ON your heart whelming poverty concerns . First i like to thank u for showing you intrest in building toilets for India . Lets compare poverty line of India China and Pakistan

India :India has already achieved the target of reducing poverty by half, with 21.9% of its 1.2 billion people living below the poverty line or having income of less than $1.25 a day, the U.N. report said. India had set a target of 23.9% to be achieved by 2015.India has halved its incidence of extreme poverty, from 49.4 per cent in 1994 to 24.7 per cent in 2011, ahead of the 2015 deadline set by the U.N,, shows the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Report, 2015.

China : Official data shows that about 98.99 million people still lived below the national poverty line of RMB 2,300 per year at the end of 2012. With the second largest number of poor in the world after India, poverty reduction remains a fundamental challenge.

In 2014 More than 82 Million People Live Below Poverty Line.BUT Real data will blow your mind.
Zheng, who is vice director of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, explained that the majority of poor Chinese live in inadequate structures, often in areas prone to natural disasters.
According to a report by Wei Shangjin, chief economist of the Asian Development Bank , the number of Chinese people living under poverty line is of more than 400 million, or 30% of the population.UNICEF said there were around 712,000 orphans in China in 2010 - the latest statistic available - but child welfare groups believed the number could be much bigger.

Pakistan : Poverty is not a new phenomenon in Pakistan as every third Pakistani is caught in the ‘poor’ bracket, i.e. some 58.7 million out of a total population of 180 million subsist below the poverty line. This includes more than half the population in the forever remote Balochistan, 33 percent in Sindh, 32 percent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and 19 percent in Punjab. These are daunting figures for every Pakistani.
Rising poverty in Pakistan
Pakistan’s progress on achieving the MDGs is disappointing. Reports prepared by national and international bodies show that Pakistan will not be able to reach the MDGs by 2015, as it is short of almost all its targets on the time scale .

While the number of people living under $1.25 a day plummeted, the number of people living under $2 has barely declined and those under $2.50 actually increased

Why brag here, china can try at UNSC and see if you can succeed?

CCP is the worst human rights violator of all the p5 members, if push comes to shove china will be first candidate to be kicked out of p5 or atleast its veto powers will be dissolved.

. .
To be honest, we are not at the level where we can sit at the same table as the P5. Facts are facts, regardless of our military or people power.

Its an automatic thing. When it happens, we will know it.

Our PM is in the US at the same time as the Chinese leader.

Which event is the BBC and CNN and Al Jazeera and French TV and DW TV covering?

I have no qualms of calling out Chinese hypocrisy and double standards where I see it.

But equally, I wouldn't bash them for being rightfully a way ahead of where we are.

Dude... you just hammered him//// Awesome reply man..:enjoy:

.
World knows that without reforms UNSC will lose its relevance. Permanent membership to security council must be deserved before staking a claim to it. India is considered 4th strongest military power after USA, Russia and China. She is ahead of two of the P-5 UK & France. In terms of economy India is ahead of another P-5 i.e. Russia and in terms of PPP she is the 3rd biggest economy in the world. When you are ahead of some members of P-5 then they better accommodate you or risk losing credibility. Its not about willingness to share power, its a compulsion. It can be delayed but not denied.

. .
@Chinese-Dragon :

You make some good points but I would like to add that if India becomes a middle-income country over the
next 15-20 years and is able to become largely self-sufficient in arms production, then the P5 will have to
become the P6.

This is simply because India will have too much influence by virtue of it's economic power and ability to influence events also by arms sales that to keep excluding it would become absurd.

.
Dude... you just hammered him//// Awesome reply man..:enjoy:

These are just facts. Nothing extraordinary. If we keep riding on poverty then what about China with 400 millions of them. Even if so this UN not some lavish party clubs
