ISLAMABAD: Advisor to PM on Petroleum, Dr. Asim Hussain has said that Pakistan is ready to face any kind of US sanctions over Pak-Iran gas pipeline project, Geo News reported.

Speaking to media after signing an accord between OGDCL and fertilizer companies here, Dr Asim said Pakistani economy was under pressure, adding every measure would be taken to secure it.

The advisor said agreement would also be inked with Iran for establishing 400,000 barrel per day capacity refinery in Gwada

I think Pakistan is taking a calculated risk here. Probably thinking that IRAN matters, relating to UN sanctions would come to its logical end by two of the possible ways.

1) There is agreement with P-5+1, everybody is hunky dory, sanctions gone.
2) Israel crippling Iran's nuclear enriching plants with precision strikes.

In both the cases, Pakistan is safe.

Oh ...... Not again, Iran is going through talks if a break through is achieved then there will be no sanctions, then we see this kind of statement to please Iranian authorities :haha:

Talk about shooting oneself in the foot, Pakistan's economy is already in doldrums and now they want to invite sanctions for a pipeline whose future is itself uncertain

It is a battle between US and China in Pakistan.

China sees Iran and Pakistan as its allies and wants cooperation between each other, on the other hand USA is establishing its command and control centers in Pakistan, and seems Yanks do not want toloose Pakistan to China and so they are talking about 50 Billion dollar investments in Pakistan(yesterday's statement).

If China becomes more aggressive then we see some more flipflops from pakistani politicians in the near future

China is a long way away from replacing US in Pakistan and Pakistan surely doesn't want to pi$$-off US atleast not in the near future cause it will be disastrous strategy on part of Pakistan

really??ppp got guts or perhaps election stunt??

India and China are already exempted from dealing on Oil and Gas with Iran amongst others . Pakistan should try to do the same using the muscle in diplomatic circles .

This again shows how weak and green Pakistani diplomatic circle is when it comes to handling issues of this sorts .

Err!

The fellow is dead, the book was written in 2010. Since then too much water has flown below this bridge. After the Presence of OBL in Pakistan, and the subsequent raid killing him instantly, has mired all the chances of Pakistan being a worthy candidate for such a dole. US is not the same with Pakistan as before, after OBL factor.

Kerry-Lugger Package of 1.5 billion USD will continue though. Beyond that, its a run of the mill news item.
