RAF Eurofighter Typhoons 'beaten by Pakistani F-16s'

this sums it all... guys future air warfare is BVR ......
and am nothing against PAF...

BVR are no doubt a weapon to check mate the opponent, but one must accept the fact that in real life things are way differnet from what we precieve them to be.Its the speed, high altitude, radius of action/range that matters in case of BVR...firing without meeting dynamic launch zone (DLZ) parameter especially at maximum range would be a suicide.
Getting all confidence on weapons would be another reason to get killed...its matter of few minutes when a BVR fight transforms to WVR and then guns...IMO BVR is not everthing, situational awareness and good training makes alot of difference.

Neglecting WVR tactics training would result the similar to phantom without guns in combat....

For argument sake.. I will say India captured Islamabad without a proper link... is that fine with you?... As of the think.. if typhoon beaten by F-16 there is nothing special in it.. it will be good if we have a proper news with proper link..

As long as the link is not posted by an Indian its not proper.. right??

During these mock dogfights in international exercises, the capability differences between the aircraft are limited as much as possible. The purpose of these mock dogfights are meant to test pilot skill, not aircraft capability. That's why during these dogfights the planes are extremely limited to their functions and capabilities. That's why you see planes having their radar capabilities shut off during these exercises, because they are not allowed. That's why you see these planes downgrading their avionics during these dogfights.

French Rafales managed to defeat the F-22 before, but that is purely maneuvering, pilot skill, and sheer experience. Once you turn the avionics back on and dogfight without restrictions, I can guarantee you that the Rafale would be toast before it could even close enough to the F-22 to fire a BVR missile.

So, in essence, the dogfight between the F-16 and the Eurofighters does not prove aircraft capability, but pilot skill.

So suppose a genuine link which provides beyond doubt the facts in this exercise is provided.... what then ?
India will remove the Typhoon from MRCA ?

india will not remove typhoon merely on this basis that once upon a time typhoon got defeated by F-16.in dact it often happens that a less capable air craft gets the better opponent in the sights.few years back there were news of a raptor lost to F-16c but it doesn't mean that raptor is inferior to f-16

Hell F/A 18 Growler shot down an F 22.

It does mean that in WVR there is no escape if you are newer gen or not. The best pilot most of the times win. But PAF moves from WVR to BVR. So they can provide a better battle then in the past. So here you are in your huge MKI getting cornered by SD10b from BVR distance. Surely you have huge load and big radar but the big advantage of BVR is really gone now.

You are forgetting something important here....We have R 77 and R 27. By the time you get SD 10B we will have a whole range of missiles in our arsenal. So right now the advantage is still with IAF.

Listen the jealously shown by Indians in this particular thread is oozing. My suggestion is don't bring in your Nation, because Topic is not about India, but the sucess of PAF pilots. So please don't be sore losers .

What jealousy and where did you see it from me? We already have a huge number of BVR missiles in our arsenal the R-77, R 27, Mica, Derby and we are negotiating for the Meteor. So there is nothing to be jealous of from our side for you getting around 500 AMRAAMS.

SD-10B is not years away from induction, how long will it take? a year or so. Infact, there was a new about development of a new generation A2A missile in China recently, by the speed they are developing, it may be exact opposite as you thogh.
China has successfully developed a next-generation air-to-air missile (AAM), known as the Key Model.

The Key Model has successfully passed the designed type approval test with all seven missiles hitting their targets.

The missile has been designed by Air-to-Air Missile Research Institute deputy director Fan Huitao, under the Aviation Industry Corporation of China.

The missile has been designed, produced, delivered and made combat effective within one year to meet the Chinese Air Force's requirement.

The Key Model is an international-advanced AAM model, which will help China to reinforce the power of national defence, according to People's Daily.
