What's new

Quetta Shura is now Karachi Shura

So easy it is, take a shura here, take a Shura there... The Shuras exist only in website articles...

Said this several times before, will say it again.

If India is accused without evidence, it's a conspiracy theory and it's irrational and all that.

If Pakistan is accused without evidence, then because so many people are accusing Pakistan, it must be true (which is a logical fallacy btw), even though they have no evidence to support what they say.

If we're to be consistent, then both are conspiracy theories.

.
@Jana , AM, looks like no amount of such articles will convince you until it fits your story.

I could turn it around and say the same with to you with respect to alleged Indian support of terrorism. And then you'd say there's no evidence. The fact of the matter is, no matter how many articles are out there, no matter how many people say it, unless you can find solid evidence for your allegations, then all the articles and talk are pointless.

If we're to look at what you're saying, then we should also accept that Iraq had WMDs.

It is an article by a Pakistani in a Pakistani newspaper. They have said everything that the world has been accusing ISI of doing. You guys have written it off like it doesn't even deserve a second thought.

The world has NOT accused ISI of what you're claiming it has. That's a major false 'fact' indians have been spreading about Pakistan. The whole world thinks this about Pakistan, whole world thinks ISI is supporting terrorist groups, etc. Only Indians and Afghans say that.

Yes, you'll mention Cameron, etc. The fact that they only said it while meeting Indian PM suggests that they don't take these allegations too seriously. If they took it seriously they would say it more often.

Quetta Shura is now Karachi Shura

By Ali K Chishti

In the light of recent revelations published by an American journal about Mulla Omar, who reportedly suffered a serious cardiac problem and underwent a major operation in Karachi, Daily Times would like to reminds its readers that it was Daily Times that first published a series of reports about certain Arab diplomats and the presence of the members of the Quetta Shura in Karachi.

Karachi, Pakistan’s financial hub, which has been struck by a series of ethnic, political and sectarian killings, which claimed more than 300 lives in the last two months, also happens to be the city where more than two dozens of the top al Qaeda, Taliban and TTP leaders have been caught. The list includes Quetta Shura number two Mullah Baradar, who only recently was claimed to have been let go for negotiations with other top terrorist leaders. It should also be noted that out of nine supposedly caught Quetta Shura members, five had been caught from Karachi alone.

There had been reports that most of the Afghan Taliban frontier leadership had been sheltered in Karachi under a Pakistani security establishment’s secret programme, the ‘New Karachi Project’. The whole notion that somehow most of the leadership of the Taliban was stationed in Quetta was a “proxy”, a top NATO source told Daily Times. “In reality its the Karachi Shura.”

Intense investigations reveal that the whole project that initially started as “India centric” has actually taken a global dimension. It was somewhere in 2003, under intense US pressure, that ‘Forward Section 23’ in Azad Kashmir was closed, which provided ‘cover and refugee to top militants’. It was only after the closure of Forward Section 23, the ISI section in Karachi became the hub for anti-India activities from where the Mumbai train bombing to 26/11 were orchestrated. It should be remember that the boat used to travel to Mumbai to carry out the terrorist attack was bought from Karachi as well.

The ‘Karachi Project’ was confirmed by recent revelations from a double agent, David Headley, who had been involved in carrying out the 26/11 massacre in Mumbai. He said in a recent testimony that he works under the direct supervision of Pakistan’s top intelligence agency, the ISI, which shelters infamous Mumbai mobster Daud Ibrahim to Tiger Memon, to the top tier leadership of the Taliban, which includes Mullah Omar. This explains a top Middle Eastern intelligence official’s secret visit to Karachi, who was actively facilitating the negotiation process between Karzai, the US and the Afghan Taliban. It should be remembered that Mullah Baradar was caught from a Sunni-Deobandi-run religious seminary in Karachi. The seminary, Khudamul Quran, is located 10 to 25kms from the toll plaza on the Super Highway in the jurisdiction of the Lonikot police station in Hyderabad, which is under the influence of Jamaat-e-Islami and the JUI-F, whose leaders had previously been caught sheltering high-profile al Qaeda leaders like Sheikh Khaled Muhammad – the 9/11 mastermind. It is shelters like this particular seminary, along with many other “safe houses”, that are termed as “strategic assets” by the Pakistani security establishment.

The Taliban are known to have moved elements of their command to Karachi to avoid potential US targeting in Predator airstrikes, where Mullah Omar is thought to be in a safe house in Karachi, under the protection of the ISI. Since the beginning of February, the authorities have captured seven senior members of the Taliban Shura, including Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the deputy of Mullah Omar, and four Taliban shadow governors of Afghan provinces, which include names such as Maulvi Abdul Kabir (shadow governor of Nangarhar province), Mullah Abdul Qayyum Zakir, who used to co-supervise the military affairs of the militia, Mullah Muhammad Hassan, a former foreign minister in the Taliban regime, Mullah Abdul Rauf, the former chief operational commander of the Taliban in northeastern Afghanistan, Mullah Ahmad Jan Akhundzada, the former governor of Zabul province and Mullah Muhammad Younis, an ex-Kabul police chief.

Another kind of misinformation, retreat from Quetta & attack on Karachi :blah::blah::blah: tiered to read such nose leaked statements.

US is only allowed to only conduct operations in FATA, not in Quetta. Their target is taliban, not Quetta shura.

there is no question about allowing or not allowing.. the drone strikes are done on and behalf of Pakistan Military and intelligence. mainly its our ground intelligence personal that “paint” the target leading to the drone strikes.
It is hard to get a positive ID from the angle and the height of the drone camera every time (consider hostile fire, fog and terrain). So it’s the collaboration of ISI with its local informants that feeds to this whole drone campaign.

Pakistan military rather do it itself but there is a compromise reached here. We have got so many TTP and Taliban terrorists due to this. Specially Baithullah Mehsod who was being funded by anti-Pakistani forces and his death sent a wave of mourning across the border on either side of Pakistan.

Indian crazies here make it sound as if these CIA drones are running on hot air and controlled by some gun nuts with unlimited virtual ammo. Most, if not all, drones fly from Pakistani bases and these bases are not outsourced to Indian call centres in Bangalore. They are staffed and run by and protected by PAF & Pak Army. Yes there is collateral damage and even Pakistan army and airforce has admitted and regretted for those unfortunate incidents.
Actually I would have loved to see these drones over Balochistan. And see some BLA and their “foreign handlers” being “droned” as the Indians normally put it.

They can repeatedly say anything but their credibility is BIG ZERO. Specially after Iraq episode, you really think that anyone will take them seriously.
.

Not sure who do you mean here by THEY if you mean these ANALysts then dont waste your time on these plonkers.. some of them predicted the fall of Pakistani state in 6 months about a year ago. Whenever there is a major incident in Pakistan, suddenly they are bred like rodents (much like the rainy season frogs) and are dying to write their opinions and ANALysis .(sorry for the caps because this sad bunch is nothing but suffering ANAL pain). They seem to hold the truth and exclusive enlightenment of the real facts which they are eager to rain on us and the NATO/ Pakistani Generals & statesmen.

.
"Pakistan army and airforce has admitted and regretted for those unfortunate incidents."

In my opinion, the more efficient way to control the public anger was to make this issue public before the first drone attack. Look, you cannot fool people for a long time and when the public anger increases, politicians and generals have nothing to say other than some truth...

We could get a better outcome if our politicians at that time (Musharaf government), tried to convince PEOPLE of Pakistan on drone attacks. Sure, you would have gotten some resistance but you could build a consensus on the issue earlier in the day. Unfortunately, our politicians and establishment 'assumes' a lot of things...

.
This is the same thing...

Earlier in the day, around 2003, these goons were labelled fundamentalists by Musharaf. However, once they realized that the term was not a public consumption, foreign hand idea kicked in...

IF there WAS a foreign hand involved at first the place, why did Musharaf label those goons fundamentalists/Islamists?

At least, I did not hear anything coming from ISPR or political circles at that time that those goons were foreign trained...

.
"Pakistan army and airforce has admitted and regretted for those unfortunate incidents."

"the drone strikes are done on and behalf of Pakistan Military and intelligence."

Furthermore, your statement raises some very serious question..

Why did PAF Chief say to the public that we can take the drones down if the government gives us the right signal considering drone attacks already had army's backing?

If the drone attacks had/has an intelligence backing, the statement of the chief was a political drama...

Did the chief forget to mention army and ISI while mentioning government?

Unfortunately, our grown up generals and politicians act like one year old babies when it comes to politics...

Point scoring makes them happy..more so 'internal satisfaction'

Waika hi, Pakistan tujhe salam....

this statement was an answer to the question if PAF had the ability to shoot drones down. where he said yes it did. it was a professional as a matter of fact answer. on the seperate occusion he even gave example of shooting down Indian drone.

many of these drones are flying from different Pakistani bases. the goverment and military chooses to keep a lot of things a secret and thats for the better.

I dont care if the drone strikes that are taking out the terrorists are backed or not... if there is no backing they wont be continuously flying over Pakistan anyway.

.
"this statement was an answer to the question if PAF had the ability to shoot drones down. where he said yes it did."

No sir, the chief involved government in this matter. He could say yes, we have an ability as you said, but the chief involved government.

He said, we can shoot down the drones IF government gives us the right signal (paraphrase) and I remember the 'hopla' of people in this forum and the mud slinging towards government.

I think that the chief forgot to mention army with government or it was a political statement, as I said earlier.

Now, if it was a political statement, what should the people of Pakistan do about his career as an army chief?

On a side note, I do not like politicians...

.
"Later talking to journalists, he said targeting the drones and taking them down is not a problem and Pakistan Air Force is fully capable for the purpose; however, any decision in this regard rests with the parliament and the government."

The chief was naive enough not to know that the drones had an intelligence/army backing?

The different side of the coin...

This statement could also mean that air chief wanted to deliver this message to the people of Pakistan that parliament is supreme, therefore did not mention army in this matter. However, I am skeptical about this because this is a serious matter, not a 'honky monky'

Everyone knows that parliament (current) cannot stop the drone attacks until our army says so..
Which further proves my first point.

Sir, we are going in the wrong direction. As I stated earlier, you cannot fool people for a longer time. Someday, army had to share some truth and it did. But is it a right policy? I know that the same applies to the U.S. but why should we copy them?

I think that politicians could have done a better job under Musharaf regime to gather people/share some information with the people...

Sir, we have fooled people on several occasions; from Jinnah to Liaquat Ali Khan, Ayub to Zia, Bhutto to Nawaz Sharif, Musharaf to Zardari etc

We should get more serious now...
