What's new

Qatar's Rafales?

Yes, all services together for forming the Qatari pilots!
Lodging, food and so on while in France plus the costs
of the planes and instructors and various expandables
such as fuel & munitions until all pilots ( more than one
per plane, say 72 or 3 each + ) spread over many years
have been trained.

6 to 9 hundred thousand Euros is not all that much either!
Lifetime ( more like careertime ) training and maintenance
of a single USN pilot is estimated at around 8-9 Million US $.
We're not talking Driver's Ed here, it's a tad more complex.

I'll check for precisions by the way since I'm not even su-
-re that it is not included in the 6.3 B Euros. But the figure
is still anything but excessive.

Read you later Bro, Tay.

Tay, are they going for the standard F3R configuration, or have they requested some different configuration?

Well, Sniper Pods have been mentioned, Indus my friend!
But that is mere adjunct to present standard equipment expected from outside clients' requests.

They'll get normal Raffys ( best available fighter anyhow without any mods ) of the only standard available by which
I mean that, as all should know, all Rafales in existence are brought to the same standard in fine.
The Standard evolves but past planes are retrofitted to it.

The only exception is mission equipments.
In the most clear case, there are two OSFs, original and IT, either of which can fit any existing Rafale.
But these OSFs together number less than number of cells/ACs in service so they get swapped onto
the mounts of whichever unit is at work. Just like targeting or SEAD or whatever pods but internally located.

The intent to get their own standard created for their requirements was/is what makes UAE deals so touchy.
Other clients buying Rafales all get the latest standard because well, there's only one, really!

Which in my opinion is a strength of the program : 1 do-it-all machine, 1 fleet to train ( MN pilots get initial
Raf training along Air Force nowadays in part due to the absence of a Naval dual seater version ) and 1
maintenance line with new standards retro-ported to all planes.
[ Ask my Brit cousins battling to save T1s they need and having to force their reluctant partners to upgrade at a decent pace. ]

Good day to you and yours, Tay.

I was kidding, but good to know.

Thanks!

@Taygibay why there is such a huge deference between the cost of Egyptian and Qatari Deals..!?!
Is it only about pilots training..!?

No Amun! It's all about weapons :
300 MICA ( both types OFC ), 300 AASM, 140 Scalps, 80 Exocets latest block.

Qatar just bought enough to extend its reach over that pond to the East of it and what lies beyond.

Good day to you, Tay.
