I am Pashtun Idky I have to keep telling others this.
Pashtuns aren't a monolith, we are all divided into tribes. Even Pashto doesn't have a standard form. Each district, tehsil, khel all have separate dialects. An Afridi (Apridai) and a Yousafzai have 2 very differing dialects of Pashto.
Now you may look on paper and see Afghanistan is 40% Pashtun and Pakistan is 15% Pashtun, with majority of us living in Pakistan and think its a good idea.
First, the Afghan King and Kabulyan khinzeer sold us to the British and afterwards didn't want anything to do with our liberation efforts. Even Afridi tribe went to the King and asked them for help but the King refused.
There were, of course, the Afridi: the Khyber Passโ most powerful tribe. Following the Durand Agreement in 1893, the British were emboldened in governing the frontier tribes more directly, triggering a massive tribal rebellion in 1897, with the valiant stand of the Yusufzai at the Siege of Malakand the most prominent feature. The Afridi also rebelled, even approaching Abdul Rahman, in the spirit of Afghan and Islamic solidarity, for assistance in their jihad. Abdul Rahman blanketly rejected their plea for direct help [40], even as he turned a blind eye to and discreetly aided an โexodusโ of Afghans traversing the Line to join their brethren in fighting the British. [41]
Afghanistan only had a problem when Pakistan became a thing and even supported separatist movements. Another thing you have to realize is that a merger was actually in the talks under Bhutto, but eventually said no because Afghanistan was dirt poor.
Finally, the likes of TTP and certain sections of Afghan Taliban absolutely loathe and despise ethnicities within Afghanistan and ethnicities in Pakistan. Bulk of people in Afghanistan think Pakistan is an apostate system and regularly takfir Punjabis and call their culture and way of life an apostate way of life.
The Pakistan project has succeeded, meaning despite the differences that we all encounter in the groups that live on this land, we all call ourselves Pakistani and have built an idenitiy surrounding this nationality. This has caused an incredible difference between the way Lar Pashtana (Pakistani Pashtuns) and Bar Pashtana (Afghanistani Pashtuns) conduct and act towards others and themselves.
Reunion was possible until the 70's now the differences is starting to become stark. As Pakistanis evolve and develop there will be an inevitable clash of civilizations with them. Best way is to do the Turkey method, dump all of them across the durrand and seal the border. Just as
