Technology has come a long way since the days of Afghanistan. These days we have recon satellites, GPS satellites, GPS guided cruise missiles and bombs and artillery shells. While jihadists have some worn out AK-47s, Russians are pretty much untouchable on the battlefield.

I don't think the Russians will bother too much about 'rules of engagement' or distinguish between good jihadis and bad jihadis

all islamist rebels will be wiped out, and if there are some civvies around the "rebels", well, too bad for them.

Even if they would eliminate ISIS until Bashar Asad is in power no peace can come in Syria.

it seems you find it difficult to digest the change in the syrian situation.

the syrians want bashar al-assad as president and so he should remain.

as for changes, only legitimate opposition political streams must be consulted and absorbed... any ikhwaani opposition such as the nato-created "syrian national council" must be sent to hell.

I may not be Einstein but atleast i'm not dumb enough to actually think that Russia will deploy 150.000 ground troops in Syria.....or that a few inaccurate air strikes would actually win the war for Assad.
