Bring it on: The man who sold his wife’s jewellery for ‘Naya Pakistan’

Dressed in an off-white shalwar kameez and leather chappals, he has an unmistakably humble stance coupled with a firm, almost naive resolve when he talks. Gul Muhammad Keeriyo is PTI’s candidate from NA-213 constituency in Nawabshah (Shaheed Benazirabad district).
Gul owns just 12 acres of land. He had just Rs300,000 in savings and one jewellery set of his wife which she willingly volunteered to sell for his election campaign as she was willing to make a sacrifice for change. “When I discussed it with my wife, I told her ‘what if this jewellery set were to get robbed tomorrow? Why not use it for a good cause by free will?’ And she agreed saying ‘I am doing this for a better Pakistan for my children’.”

Promoting peace: Sufism will end terrorism in the country, says Imran

BAHAWALPUR / RAJANPUR:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan espoused “the teachings of Sufism” on Saturday and held out the hope that it would end terrorism in the country.

Addressing a public gathering in Rajanpur district’s Kot Mithan area on Saturday, Imran paid tribute to the services of Sufi saint Khawaja Ghulam Farid in promoting love for humanity and nature.

“The time has come for us to realise that the teachings of Islam and the teachings of the Sufi saints are one and the same,” said the PTI chief, adding that Sufi values were based on the idea of egalitarianism and the acceptance of all creeds and beliefs in society.

He called upon people to unite to confront terrorism and poverty in the country.

Imran said the May 11 polls provided people a chance to change the political status quo in the country. He maintained that feudalism had taken hold in most political parties, which as such strived towards dictatorship because of the silence of the common man. He also promised to bring an end to feudalism if PTI was voted to power.

Addressing another gathering in Bahawalpur, Imran said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Peoples Party had failed to serve the nation despite having multiple chances to do so. He asserted that the country’s two traditional political powerhouses had enjoyed remaining in power, but chose to serve their own narrow interests rather than those of the public.

Imran also said the two parties had damaged the democratic process. He said PML-N did not allow anyone other than a member of the Sharif family to lead it while the PPP was simply based on the slogan of ‘Bhutto’. He maintained both parties operated as dynasties rather than democratic parties, adding that only the PTI introduced true democracy by holding intra-party elections.

The PTI chief once again challenged both PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari to have a public debate on national issues with him. He questioned their reluctance in this regard and claimed they knew they could not defend themselves in any debate on the matter, especially in light of their ‘performance and misdeeds’.

@Zarvan Not very smart of Imran to open up and declare what kind of shariah law he will bring.

some liberal jerks think sufis are lighter when it comes to women and jihad and politics basically those liberal jerks are biggest ignorants and show their knowledge of Sufism and how limited it is , many many sufis fought wars or guided those who waged jihad and encouraged them and if you study them most consider women nothing more than a fitna which should be controlled and kept an eye on and many sufis took on leaders who went against governments and many used to be advisor of leaders on how to implement shariah so let Sufism come and liberal jerks will cry the most :pakistan::victory::nana:

Are you saying Imran Khan will bring Sufism and then start a jihad against liberal jerks and the most evil fitna: Women? Smiling .. The basic concept of sufism is love, peace and harmony with coexistence. Thats kindve the exact opposite you have been promoting.

For implementing Islamic Law (Shari'ah), we need to have elections and need to get good people in parliament (inshallah!)...but your TTP is bombing PTI's offices in Kohat..

TTP are the biggest khawarjites ever...enemies of Pakistan and Islam
