Down the road anything is possible for sure. Naturally the first priority is getting such a system set up that covers the IOR region, from there- who knows?

i do.this satellite has a life time of 10 years and is installed with state of the art tech including rubidium clock in order to ensure atmose accuracy.the whole prg is estimated to be completed by 2015 and 5-6 years from that time the replacements of launched satellites have to be started.so this is a continous and an expensive process so this will not be limited to a particular region.also the region do not cover entire china.im sure this is also used for defence purposes be it mapping or missile communications..so evaluating cost to benefit ratios im sure that this project would be further extended.only our govt do not want to disclose this at once.

Certainly,once they have finished with regional system they'll launch more sats to provide global coverage.
They have planned 11 sats,(7+4) 4 more in IRNSS.Most probably to provide backup.

yes its range covers entire persian gulf,2/3 of china and up to malacca strait.
