Why not Pakistan go for the F-35s?

Even if we had that option available to us we wont go for that ever as the Us has a habbit and history of using strategic assets to influence our internal issues that lead to national secuirty threats and secondly the Us will never provide tot and local production of f 35 and PAF policy of today is to procure all of its strategic assets locally, why procure something for short run when u can gain domestic gains with effort and patience.

unless something was already being done secretly for decades and never made public.
I dont know what can be done in 5 years, maybe a concept model and some initial stages for a prototype

Makes sense for the Pakistani's too in bringing the unit cost down with a sizeable Saudi purchase.

With all the military hardware they have, I doubt they can even defeat Madagascar.
Saudi government is full of incompetent BAdoos.

It is not Pakistan's lookout anyways what they can do with their arsenal. What's important is what the Saudi's perceive that they can do with it and what makes them feel safe.

Also, this venture would offer the Saudi's a no strings attached weapons platform that will be 5th gen and at a more manageable cost. In face of a more belligerent (read as Trump) and more openly pro-Israeli US and an ever growing meeker Europe (following the US policies on the 3rd world), a Saudi shift of sorts cannot be ruled out.

It makes sense for China too as they would have an additional, self sustainable, stealth program that would do very good for it's specialized military industrial complex's growth and advancement.

There's JF-17 Thunder Block 3 and the Fifth Generation Fighter (FGF) under Project Azm.

Why would anyone want to develop a light weight stealth fighter?

Pakistan can get anything what it wants if we have the right people in right positions, both civil and military. Just dont have leaders to cash our geographical and geopolitical importance.

There is no J-25 and there was never one.

both might be the same because soon after the serial production of JF-17s started. there were comments about stealthy version of JF-17.
