PESHAWAR: Police and jail authorities kept the army in the dark regarding the attack on the central Dera Ismail Khan Jail, according to the initial report on the incident obtained by Express News on Monday.

The report states that the Army was notified on their own of the jailbreak to which they summoned five Quick Response Force (QRF) companies.

According to the initial report, the police and jail authorities told the army that the militants were inside the jail, whereas the militants had already attacked and left at that point.

The escaped militants engaged in a firing combat with the QRF in a nearby neighborhood after. Two militants were killed as a result of the combat.

The initial inquiry report has been forwarded to the Islamabad head quarters. The report also states that the army knew a day in advance of the attack and had stationed a “big” rifle on the main gate to handle a potential crisis.

However, there was no police present at the main gate and no one used the gun which could have helped the situation.

Four policemen were put behind bars for their negligence in the attack by the Tehrik-e-Taliban on the Dera Ismail Khan Jail on August 10.

At least six people were killed, including five policemen as the Tehreek-e-Taliban mounted a late night assault on the prison in Dera Ismail Khan late on July 30, in which nearly 250 prisoners managed to escape.

Police kept army in Dark

It's an acceptable excuse that Terrorist blew up the transformer, So Army was kept literally and figuratively in dark but were there ear closed too with ear plugs that they didn't heard loud bangs of RPG and rocket launchers?

sir jee puri Baraat aye or inko pata hi nahi chala...

This thing is turning out to be more amusing with every passing day. I've seen news about this report on TV channels today, according to it when army learned about this attack on their own. They immediately sent 3-4 QRTs to seal different routes to stop attackers from entering city and residential areas..

Now why army only tried to stop attackers from entering in city, why they didn't try to stop them from leaving DI Khan?? Why they didn't try to block their exit routes?

oh yar woh sab choro, how did the talibans passed through the existing check posts and still amazingly how did they pass out without being encountered at the existing checkposts, and still when the army learned why no hot pursuit?

was the garrison city left unguarded on purpose or plain criminal negligence by military ?

Yar all that is debatable for example

- attackers didn't come in convoy but instead came in small portions and gathered somewhere near DI Jail and launched attack
- they used the routes where there are no check posts to avoid detection and all that..

But in above scenario, army itself is saying that they actually learned about the attack and thus they responded immediately by sending Quick Response Teams (QRTs) to protect residential areas so that attackers won't try to enter those areas.

Now since army actually learned about the attack on Jail, here are a few counter questions:

- Why Army tried to send QRT's to protect residential areas instead of sending them to Jail which was under attack?

- Another important thing to notice is, after jail attack, we all know that first response team arrived late. And they weren't even few minutes late, they were fcking 4 hours late..

- Army sent QRTs to protect residential areas, but why QRT's weren't sent to exit routes to block attackers or intercept.

- Lastly, no attempt of hot pursuit was done..

Looks like they were not interested to intercept attackers at all, or even army was trying to avoid getting in contact with attackers.. :undecided:

Do you know what consists of a QRF?

Yup...they were 10 feet away from the jail!
