Lt. Gen Umar Farooq Durrani, Chairman Pakistan Ordnance Factories signed an MoU w/ Kalashnikov Co.
Concern Kalashnikov is the largest Russian manufacturing company that produces assault and sniper rifles, guided artillery projectiles and a wide range of precision weapons.

This MoU is definitely a positive gesture from both sides and a milestone in Russia and Pakistan friendship.
Soon we will see more MoU between the two states along with co-production. Looks like uncle SAM's decisions are back firing.

I think you are right G-3 is a battle field rifle and AK is a assault rifle but again it,s worthy in the battlefield because russian army is using it.
AKs can definitely beat competition.They are effective weapons and are easy,low cost to maintain.

PA will use it on battlefield but it will be used with some 7.62x51 caliber rifle because PA believe that caliber kills (1 bullet 1 kill) so they will not use AK (7.62x39) as battle rifle.

That is why there are two tenders one to replace G3 and one to replace Type 56. In G3 category SCAR is leading and in Type 56 category first I thought that BREN has taken it but recent proof shown by a friend suggests that AK-103 is leading that.
