It is about our national interest. Yes border was to open one day, but as one of the posters has already mentioned, what guarantees have we got from Afghanistan that we are opening the border? Have they handed over any terrorist?

WTO were about to start an enquiry into the closure after Afghanistan complained that Pakistan was breaking WTO rules. Consequences for Pakistan would have been severe offering other countries the option of stopping all Pakistani exports.
In effect, the more extreme repercussion would bring Pakistans economy to a grinding screeching halt.
Nawaz just pre-empted a WTO ruling. It does however put Pakistan on WTO watch list as a rule transgressor.

apparently looks like this Nawaz Govt was in real hurry to open the border and is not on the same page with Army establishment ... whatever the deal is, should be made to the public since attacks from Afghan soil won't end. Also we cannot close the border like for ever but some concrete measures have to be taken

WTO rules clarily state that national security should get a priority.

Since Afghanistan is aiding Indian sponsored cross-border terrorism into Pakistan, resulting in deaths of 1000s of civilian's deaths, we are not breaking any rules to close that damn border to protect ourselves.

Next time an attack happens in Pakistan leading back to Afghanistan this peetcheer PM should directly held responsible since its his hope that he relies on rather than concrete foreign policy and making sure that lives of Pakistanis come first.
