The difference is obvious and stark

The Supreme Court has already taken up a role for itself as the ultimate arbitrator about the NCV and its aftermath. And this is not the first time the Supreme Court of Pakistan has assumed this role. I had hoped the last time was the last time! Had Imran Khan dissolved the Assemblies before the NCV was tabled then the Supreme Court wouldn't have to intervene. This is now in the hands of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Imran Khan still has a chance: To legally prove that the NCV is actively supported by foreign powers. Short of that, I don't see how the Supreme Court will support Imran's actions today?? And it may be that Imran faces legal consequences for violating the Const. of Pakistan today, but I am not sure about that.

Sir you have big gaps and selective application, NCV according to your first line in your post deserved the treatment it got and yes what happened is within the constitutional power of deputy speaker.

Absolutely wrong!! Once an NCV is tabled, the power to dissolve the assemblies or to revoke the NCV goes away. It is very clear. Imran Khan missed the numbers game and thought he would have enough. But when MQM abandoned him just a few days ago, he knew the game would be over.

Najam Sethi has clarified on Indian TV that this move by Imran is totally illegal. As per him, Supreme Court will quickly invalidate Imran's actions in a couple of days and allow for a no-confidence vote. :coffee:

Usually, cases in subcontinent can take months to find a resolution. So maybe Sethiji is a tad too optimistic :undecided:

No. Pakistani courts have made very quick judgements about sort of similar cases when Presidents dismissed elected govt using the Const. Amendment 8th; and made those judgements multiple times!! I foresee this too will be quickly wrapped up because this is so blatantly illegal action by Imran Khan.

Najam Sethi also observed that cases against Nawaz do not have good proof. So they will probably be dismissed for lack of evidence after his brother becomes PM following the no confidence vote. Najam Sethi goes on to say that Nawaz will become PM again in the next election as Imran is not very popular in Punjab. :coffee:

No chance, he can't run away from a non confidence vote.
He does not enjoy majority in the house, he has to go through a no confidence motion if the other side brings it up.
Foreign powers et al is a separate issue pending investigation.

Maybe you are right. But Pakistani political class, the judiciary, and the military have historically come together to find creative ways of going around seemingly too complex problems. They all learned well from the 1971 crisis.

Those who made properties through illegal looted wealth are busy defending the puppets and their foreign masters.

--Supreme court can't intervene in parliamentary affairs.
--No confidence motion is null-and-void, because NSC meeting confirmed foreign interference/meddling behind it. Even Army, Naval and Airforce Chiefs were present in meeting.

--National Assembly is dissolved, Elections to take place in 90 days.

May Allah protect Pakistanis, especially Imran Khan from internal and external enemies, ameen.

If Imran Khan wins the election that will eventually follow, then his stand against the NVC may be vindicated. But if he looses, then what? Will be blame establishment or accept the defeat gracefully? Interesting times ahead :pop:
