I know there are some butt hurt now that the failure of previous governments to start this project despite at least 9 events or announcements around it. They are specially embarrassed as being shameless as they are, they cannot say admit to this and blame their overlord for this while i am clearly saying that if Imran turns out to be same as those thugs that have looted our country and that if this event also turns out to be same photo-op as shared in above post, i will be first one to criticize Imran Khan. However, the ego being challenged and bruised DO NOT MEAN THAT YOU ARE ALLOWED TO START POSTING IRRELEVANT things.

PPP = rental power plant to get kick backs and ruin the country hence no dams only on paper

PMLN : imported coal plants to get kick backs and ruin the country hence no dams only on paper

PTI: main focus on hydel and cheap electricity that will benefit our country. Hence dams and real working on ground

Pakistan PM Imran Khan visited Diamer Basha Dam site with COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa , But most importantly DG ISI Lt Gen Faiz Hamid was also with them . Last year Mohmand Dam construction work was started in a ceremony by PM Imran Khan and COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa while ex CJP Justice (R) Saqib Nisar was also with them , but no DG ISI at that occassion . Reasons are obvious , India wants to disturb/sabotage Diamer Basha Dam Project , Gilgit Baltistan govt requested Pakistan Army under article 245 of constitution for security of Dam site and workers . Pakistan federal cabinet Approved Pakistan Army deployment in Diamer district of Gilgit Baltistan till December 2020 for this Purpose .In Sha ALLAH 120 Companies will be deployed for this Purpose .

According to Interior ministry threat level is high and several Indian agents were arrested in Gilgit Baltistan in recent months .

PTI-led government is not against CPEC per se; CPEC was REVIEWED for 'accountability reasons' per my (personal) understanding. There is an unfortunate history of 'shady dealings' between Pakistani political sellouts and foreign elements (the FORMER being responsible of-course); dealings which are done without national consensus, and have led to controversial developments on the ground at times including costly white elephants, delayed progress in fulfillment of a beneficial project, and/or substandard works. These shady dealings are usually to the benefit of the political sellouts because they are contingent upon receiving KICKBACKS in return (primary motivation).

CPEC is a popular development in Pakistan otherwise.

Pakistani leaders just need to make sure that any manner of foreign investment in the country is-in-line with the national interests of the country as well as to the satisfaction of Pakistani people by large. Fair consideration, right?

In January 2006, the Government of Pakistan under President Pervez Musharraf announced the decision to construct 5 multi-purpose storage dams in the country during next 10–12 years. According to the plan, the Diamer-Bhasha Dam project was proposed to be built in the first phase. In November 2008, the Executive Committee of National Economic Council formally approved the project. Council of Common Interests Pakistan, a constitutional body representing the provinces, also approved the construction of the dam. The Prime Minister of Pakistan Yousuf Raza Gillani laid the foundation stone of the project on 18 October 2011.

CPEC was also established in 22 May 2013
