The People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) will deploy a range of naval vessels into the Indian Ocean region in the future, said a senior military official during a press conference on 29 January.

The comment by Senior Colonel Yang Yujun, a spokesperson at China's Ministry of National Defense (MND), comes against the backdrop of increased PLAN deployments to the region since it first took part in international counter-piracy efforts off Somalia in 2008. Since then, the PLAN has progressively expanded the frequency and type of naval vessels - the latter now to include submarines - that it sends to the Indian Ocean.

"In the future, the Chinese military will send different kinds of naval ships to take part in the naval escort missions in accordance with the situation and the requirement to fulfil the task," Col Yang told reporters.

The colonel was responding to a question on the PLAN's submarine movements in the Indian Ocean and described the service's intended deployments as "normal activities" and that "there is no need to read too much into them".

"The Chinese military has sent various kinds of naval ships to the Gulf of Aden and the waters off the Somali coast to conduct escort missions since 2008 - and in the process, we have notified relevant countries of the escort missions of the PLA naval ships, including the PLA naval submarines", said Col Yang, although he did not name the countries.

India should have no worries about this as India is the superpower. Indian Ocean is India's Ocean and with 50 years of advanced Indian training on AC, China is no match for India. Above all, India has the most advanced missile in the world Brahmos, that will sink all the Chinese ships and subs in the area.

Brahmos, most advanced? You need to lay low the alcohol. India is nowhere near being a super-power, sure they have a military that can match both Britain's and France's but it is nowhere near the top 3 (US, Russia and China).

True, all recent human advances, and some ones yet to be discovered, are because of ancient Indian inventions.
true but Muslims have invented many thing such as alegebra, coffee, cannons and others items that have really shaped the world

In no way am i taking the credit away from Indian inventors

For us, IOR will assume more importance than SCS in the future. After all, SCS is just a shipping lane. IOR, on the other hand, is the terminal ocean that connects to the Middle East and Africa.

But Brahmos fly faster than the speed of light, no CIWS will be able to shoot it down.

Yap. My gf look kind of like her. Except she is a little hotter.
faster than light? Oh heaven, you must be drunk

Dont forget their "China" killer, "indigenous" nuke sub and the launch of this superpower's super pride

"INS Kolkata is entirely built in India and it is a symbol of our self-reliance. It is a prime example of India's technical abilities and will send a message around the globe," Mr Modi said at the commissioning ceremony of the ship in Mumbai.
"My government has taken important steps in improving indigenous defence technology. We dream about making India strong enough to export defence equipment to the world. We can guarantee peace if our military is modernised.
No country will dare challenge India after commissioning INS Kolkata," the PM added.

However there are still some revelations amidst the bravados:
On INS Kolkata, PM is Only Partially Correct

India was a superpower by 2012, as their president had proclaim. And no one can intercept Brahmos because it fly so fast. It's the most advanced anti ship missile in the world. It's so advanced that Russia still cannot come up with a ship to arm them. Only India has the capability. And India is working on the hypersonic version so fast and can shoot do far that enemy ship would be sunk before the missile get there.
India is researching of Brahmos 2 which is hypersonic Brahmos 1 isn't. Also China is researching on hypersonic glide vehicle. In a sea battle Indian ships will be destroyed by Chinese DF-21D (world's best anti-ship missile). Also since Chinese military keep their projects secret there are plenty we don't know about them.

Modi can say whatever he wants, after all his party is shouting around with crap like "turning India 100% Hindu", "they travelled to space thanks to their Hindu astrology". India is still far from catching China (China's government spending is greater than India's GDP).

. . .
Indian ocean is large and China is free to deploy warships, so is South China sea where India plans to deploy warships there.

Jiaolong discovers huge 'chimney vent' in Indian Ocean
Xinhua, February 3, 2015

China's deep sea manned submersible Jiaolong discovered a huge active "chimney vent" 20 meters tall and two meters wide in a hydrothermal area of southwestern Indian Ocean on Monday.

After finishing all planned work, the sub explored the eastern area of the working seabed and Shao Zongze, the scientist in the sub, was very excited at what he saw.

"We observed a giant active chimney vent, which was really a big surprise for our mission," Shao said. "Deep-sea chimney vents as huge as this one have rarely been seen in scientific research all over the world."

Piloting the sub, Tang Jialing videotaped the "chimney vent" and measured its height and width with a laser range finder. ( "We didn't have enough time to measure its inner temperature and to collect samples of sulfides, hydrothermal fluid and living beings this time, so I hope Jiaolong could go there again," said Shao, a researcher with the Third Institute of Oceanography of State Oceanic Administration (SOA).

There were mussels, shrimps and fishes around this "chimney vent", according to Shao.

Deep-sea "chimney vents", also known as hydrothermal sulfide, are a kind of seabed deposits containing copper, zinc and precious metals such as gold and silver. Those metals formed sulfides after chemical reactions and came to rest in the seabed in the form of "chimney vents."

Jiaolong found clues to a new active "chimney vent" on Monday north of a hydrothermal area called Dragon Flag, which was the first hydrothermal area Chinese scientists discovered in 2007, according to Shao.

Researching six hours in Dragon Flag, Jiaolong picked up the high temperature probe which the sub placed on Jan. 12 and took samples of deep-sea water, hydrothermal fluid and living beings.

"The probe recorded the temperature of a chimney vent for 21 days successfully and we will analyze all data to discover whether there is regularity," according to the scientists.

Reaching its deepest depth of 7,062 meters in the Pacific's Mariana Trench in June 2012, Jiaolong is on a 120-day expedition in southwest Indian Ocean.

US presence in the Indian Ocean (Diego Garcia) could not stop India from entering east pakistan in 1971. What can chinese vessels do in Indian Ocean other than escorting commercial vessels to safety from piracy? If India wants to station an AC in Atlantic and another in Pacific, what wrong will she commit?
