When China starts sailing their Aircraft Carrier in the IO you are going to want to pester them back by sailing in the East China Sea.

Indian Navy would have 2-3 carriers itself, in addition to A&N and Lakshdweep Island which would serve as unsinkable AC for Indian navy. On top of it, India has 57 year experience of operating carriers, and carriers that India has planned to construct would be having better capabilities ( 65000 tonnes, CATOBAR, Nuclear powered ).


The fact Indian Navy is comparable/stronger to PLAN atm and PLAN need to retain substantial strength back home to deal with big bad shark of Pacific (USN), does not augur well for any expeditionary mission taken up by PLAN.

Pakistan ? Without USA's approval they cannot even protect their citizens.

Bangladesh, Sri-Lanka or Maldives will not choose to anger India and thus will not choose any side and Burma/Myanmar is just improving their relations with the west so will not base Chinese navy.

Right now PLAN is planning a modernization of their navy, so any overseas base is just pipe dream until distant future.

Myanmar -> They are completely controlled by US now

Thailand -> i don't think so

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka -> They will lose a lot then gaining

Pakistan -> Possibility are quite less.

It's going to be tough for India to resist giving US basing rights in say the Andaman Islands in exchange for US base access in the South China Sea area.

Just now news came that modi and obama talking about scs and india want to play role in it. In return india ready to support america in scs and middle east by sending navy and army. Much more going on. Waiting for joint briefing.

you forgot our barthing rights in Kam Ranh Bay and other bases in Vietnam...

Seychelles, Mauritius, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Cambodia.

Cambodia is not in IOR.others are under India's Security Wing.only Sri Lanka is somewhat close to China.but they'll never provide a base to China,nor China would want it.because nobody places naval assets right next to opponent.it'll be way easier to monitor them and will lose its purpose.

why don't they get a base in Pakistan,in Arabian Sea??
