The irony is that Palestinians go to UN because they want to avoid negotiations and statehood. If Palestinians really wanted a state they could get it long time ago.

I think it is purely xenophobic cultural bias that makes Pakistanis rally against a country like Israel which the very same reason to request a partition plan in the first place. In 1947 The Palestinians wanted unity and to stop Jewish emigration and they considered themseves as part of Syria. India vied for unit in a democratic state like the Palestinians and there was a Partition Plan. The future Pakistani leadership saw that a majority Hindu Democratic India might marginalize. Muslims. In there origins Israelis and Pakistanis have more common and India and the Palestine that could have been in 1947.


Now Israel and India have more common and Pakistan and hopefully the future Palestine are more similar.

UNSC Sends Palestinian Bid to Membership Committee

The UN Security Council today referred Palestinian application seeking full membership for itself at the United Nations to a special committee that deals with the admission of new members.

The Council's Committee on the Admission of New Members is slated to consider the application on Friday.

A brief full session of the 15-member council discussed the application today.

WTF is wrong with this Indian leadership !!!

What have the Palestinians (however justified their cause is) got to offer to us in scientific,military,economic terms ?

I guess if the Indian leadership is to support Palestine over Israel it must get a written letter of support from Palestine leaders that they will recognize Kashmir as an integral part of India and do the same in future OIC/Arab League meetings. Also they must ask the Palestinian state to disarm Hamas which carries out terrorist attacks in Israel.

Anything short of that is monumental stupidity.

It is KHANgress votes, remember? This makes them even more favorites among their favored votebank, since the elections are drawing nearer.

On topic, It is such a shame that Palestinian statehood is being supported. GOI could have remained ON THE FENCE status. But this clearly shows a votebank lean.

But then again, CONgress never represented India as a country, so no use of getting annoyed or surprised. Puppet governments owned by foreigners don't essentially do their best to see the betterment of the country they rule..

I have to differ. Much as there plenty to admire about Israel, I'm afraid that this is not one of them The present Israeli government is simply yanking the chain about with absolutely no interest whatsoever to create a viable Palestinian state. President Abbas has had his credibility severely dented among the Palestinians because the Israelis are willing to offer him almost nothing and Hamas is the only beneficiary of the Israeli actions. Ironically, that suits the present Israeli government just fine since they can portray the Palestinians as being unreasonable & merely a bunch of terrorists. To suggest anything else here on the lines of Israelis being serious partners with this government in place would just be a travesty of the truth.

Ariel is in the heart of the west bank. Taking Ariel along all the way to it with your military is just another face for an occupation.

You seriously bring up the UN partition plan borders and talk about people being expelled? You have some nerve.

There is absolutely no comparison between the number of Jews and Arabs expelled. Furthermore, the partition plan gave far less to Israel than what anybody is proposing today.

True, Sometimes I wonder if the Arabs hate Israel as a “Nation state” or a “Jewish state”..

Because if they hate Israel as a nation state then the feeling is mutual because Israel is a democratic country in the heart of the Middle East, it has the most power full army in the Middle East and a good economy.

And if they hate Israel as a Jewish state then it reminds me of bigotry and racism suffered by the Jews in Europe and elsewhere. Hating people because of their religion is racism and discriminatory practise.

PM Benjamin Netanyahu offered to Guarantee "Painful comprises" and give away some of the Israeli territory even from 1948 in exchange for peace and security from the Palestinians…

However instead of sitting down and negotiating face to face Mahmoud Abbas has chosen to bypass direct negotiations and also to settle down with Hamas a terrorist group that has vowed to destroy Israel not caring whether they are Israeli Jews or Israeli Arabs.

Anyway hope peace comes between the Israelis and Palestinians so that people can lead normal lives.
