India has already recognized Palestine back in 1988. This is a continuation of a police that we have already in place. There is no CHANGE in the policy. Israel is well aware of this and did not even ask India otherwise.

And during the BJP led NDA as well this was clearly reiterated.

In 1988 we had no diplomatic relationship with Israel and our socialists were head over heels in love with Palestine just to oppose the imperialists (USA-Israel). Why should we carry the baggage of that era still now ?

I think you have confused something here.

Israel never had a problem with India recognizing Palestine. NDA govt already made it clear there will be no dilution on our Palestinian stand when recognizing Israel.

So if Israelis don't have problem, what is your concern?

Even now, supporting the Palestinian state hood bid will not directly change anything on the ground. Nor will India directly accrue any material benefit. But ofcourse this will definitely improve and maintain the soft power standing and spread of India not just in the ME but around the world.

Confer with them again as an ally will do to another and hear their side of the story too and bring in some amendments to the resolution that will reflect their concerns too so that we are not seen pro-anyone.

Not being a fortune teller. Just look at the ground reality.
Palistina as it stands now consists of 2 pieces of land seperated by a country which will try ANYTHING to let it fail. Also Palistina now has 2 consecutive generations that is under educated because of the intifada, which means it is very very ill suited for democracy. Just look at what happened to most African countries which were decolonised without the proper support systems (educated population, right political and cival cadre etc), only with the added twist of a powerfull neighbor country actively seeking its failure.

As to the question of do I see Israel fail in the future, it all depend on 3 things:
1. The state of the U.S. economicly.
2. Demography
3. A clear seperation between state and religion, instead of the crap it is now.

Hold your tongue..I dont need to care what a Malaysian or a Singaporean thinks of me or my country supporting a nation that stood by us during the most critical time and supplies us critical tech those Malaysians or Singaporeans can only dream of. Israel has precious few friends in the region. They cannot afford to lose India as a friend. Note that their other major military ally -- South Africa -- is likely to vote for the Palestinians also.

That is what everyone thought of Turkish-Israeli relationship too.

What do you think they will do instead? Start arming Pakistan and Bangladesh?

They will just stop exporting us the critical tech which no other country is willing to share while you guys get your free weapons from China.

No no, please dont do that. We are all here to learn from one another.

Do explain how vociferously supporting Palestine and ignoring Israel helped our cause one bit before the 90s and how recognising Israel damaged our relations with the Arab countries another bit.

While doing so please cut down on the "historically we have supported,soo....., independent policy,so...., satyameva jayate,so..... bits" and just elaborate the benefits we have got in pure geo-political,technological and military terms. Did we get any military technology from them ? Did they support us during any of the wars with Pakistan ? Did we get an endorsement of our position on Kashmir from them ? Did they support us in any other cause in any other international fora etc.

I am willing to take back my words if refuted with facts.
