Pakistan's response to S-400

Well, every weapon has pros and cons. Drones also have pros and cons. It is up to the battle commander how a particular weapon is used. Imagine a fast flyer that reaches close to the S-400 radar and release the swarm very close to the physical system.
That fast flyer will be a single target for s400
and you know what s400 can do to a few fast flyers.

As I said, it depends on the evolving situation at the time and the decision by the battle commander. What if the S-400 has already fired a salvo from a launcher in a certain area? What if the terrain provides a natural cover? The actual battle has too many variable which people don't consider when talking about systems. Hence, we need to lay down the pros and cons.

If you have a cheaper and already available and a far far far
Faster way of doing this job then why under the sun would any sane person use such a useless
System .

India will have elections in May-2019 and Modi is predicted to lose.

Once Modi is gone, the new government is bound to cancel this deal and order an anti-corruption probe.

Considering that the PAF pilots are proficient in using highways as runways, the entire Pak is being turned into a giant air base!!!!! That means it's difficult for the IAF (even with S-400) to deter the PAF to run low-flying missions, enveloped by the dense EW (jamming+deception) conditions, with SOWs (w/ embedded EW capabilities) to wreck havoc on their front-line (within 500-700km range) assets!!!!!! And, that's the entire North India - the very Ram Rajya itself!!!!!!!

For those who are interested in Pakistans response to s400 please read carefully the above mentioned thread.

While you may have a vested interest in marketing another thread, for posterity, let it be known that the current thread looks at the emergent threat that advances in Indian air defence pose. If someone finds this redundant, let them stay away from this thread instead of constantly trying to derail the discussion.

No what I am interested in is to find the best solution for the same i.e emerging threats. And I am sorry if I heart your feelings in any way.

I believe if it comes to a point where PAF has to take off from runways, then they might strike back with a final solution, which would not bode well for the entire South Asia. Whether the top brass has the balls to do that is anybody's guess.

The range of SOWs is reduced considerably if they are released at a low height. Probably what makes more sense is to do a low-hi run, release the SOW and scramble. If the range of S-400 is 400 kms, and an aircraft releases its SOW from 400 km, then by the time the incoming SAM covers 400 kms, the aircraft would be well out of range. Depending on relative speeds, there will be a 'buffer zone' within which PAF will be able to shoot and scoot as well.

So, although the PAF has options, if these options were to be utilized today, it would mean significant damage to our infrastructure, and a muted response to India. We need to understand that the cost of losing infrastructure for Pakistan is high. We have less infrastructure, and are financially very limited. Thus, preservation is key until we come out of the current financial crisis.

Dude, your input is appreciated but your assessment is over-optimistic.

Watch an S-300 system engage two targets including one low-flying target:

An S-300 system is armed with 9M86 series interceptors, and has the capability to detect and engage potential targets at altitudes in the 25 m - 30 KM range. Its radar systems can be positioned in such a way.

And we are talking about S-400 systems here. S-400 system can also be armed with 9M86 series interceptor (16 per TEL), and it has the capability to detect and engage potential targets at altitudes in the 10 m - 27 KM range. Its radar systems can be positioned in such a way.

FYI: https://www.rbth.com/defence/2014/0...st_advanced_aerial_defense_systems_36213.html

Pakistan is not on the level of Russia in EW front. This is expensive stuff.

People here having euphoria moments with wild speculations as if they have figured it all out on their own. Much speculation - little substance.

Pakistan should strongly oppose Russian supply of S-400 systems to India unless Russia compensate Pakistan in some way. This is a destabilizing development.

PAF needs a squadron of stealthy aircraft (J-31?) and F-18 Growler. This fleet can be stationed outside of Pakistan but Pakistan needs to develop an overseas military base for this. Very expensive enterprise but what else can we do?

No cheap counters to S-400 systems surrounded by additional set-of-defenses within India. They are already better equipped than us.

Here's a more interesting video.

You don't have any political leverage over Russia. Even the Chinese cannot stop the S-400 sale to India.

Where will this base be located according to you?

Dude, only runways won't be called an airbase. These are helpful for emergency landings

Which sow has 400 on range?

These people lack common sense! Lol! Things like refueling, reloading ammunitions, minor repairs and cleaning of planes after 3-4 sorties etc will be done on CPEC according to them!
