Considering the recent argument between the US and pakistan over the Raymond Davis case, adn the US officials reportedly threatening to severe diplomatic ties with pakistan, should Pakistan stand up to the US and be independent of the superpower adn cooperate more with the likes of turkey and such or should we surrender to the US for their continuing aid?.....THOUGHTS?

.
Pakistan should stand up to the US... I don't mean a confrontation, but we need to look out for our interests more than theirs.

As for Davis, we should let the court decide, after all he's allegedly murdered two people. Let the court decide whether he is guilty or innocent.

The problem is that our political leadership has always deceived the Nation about their views of Pak-US relations. Most of them are willing to let US crawl all over us.

.
^^^....exactly,it is time to be little bit more independent from the US and go for deep relations with other countries, we all know that the US is only helping us for its own cause.Once the WoT is fiinished then the US support will be greatly lessened.

.
If Raymond Davis was an ordinary innocent man, Americans wouldn't go so far.

Something is too fishy.........ISI probably knows. The US is desperate to get Davis out..

.
Davis is beleived to be spy, the 2 man killed by him were spies of ISI too. Reading news articles it seems Davis was upto something but ISI knew & ISI agents were after him. Photos of sensitive areas ,Pak army bunkers on Pak-Ind border & some Army fort in Frotier KP are found from Davis.

We need to stand up this doesnot mean we have to fight a war with them but we have to stand up for our rights ,We should not let them humilate us anymore. We should show them that we too have self respect .and it is the perfect time to show that an american is not above law if he kills 2 civilians .
What americans would have done in the case if a Pakistan spy in America had done that .

We really dont need there aid .We have enough resources with our own country .

May Allah Protect my motherland from evil (esp politicians and bureaucrats).Ameen. :pakistan:

.
we should see pic from both sides ...... if we stand up against usa there will be some consquences one usa will cut the aid off which i think and i believe does not matter as lay person does not get outta anything...second usa may strikes in wazaristan directly through its troops which i think and i believe will makes its life more harder than ever if usa does not want to attack then usa can ask india to put preasure on pakistan through any means ...... pakistan exports 80% of its textile to usa and 8 to 9% to euorpe and if usa and europe bans it then pakistan needs to block gowadar and karachi ports and should ask china that china advise to russia to block the gas to europe that is what i think in a broader way ............pakistan has its card hidden and only card which usa has to attack which usa thinks is hidden but we have already seen it

In order to stand up to the US Pakistan must first be strong internally.Until and unless she improves her economy , infrastructure etc. she cannot stand up to the US.It is very easy to say 'yes we can' but the reality is that the entire nation is dependent on US aid without which things will be a lot worse.Currently the US is the big daddy in US-PAK relations.I'm afraid there is nothing much Pakistan can do.But if she gets her act right i.e spend money where it is absolutely necessary , prevent army intervention into matters that do not concern them ,have a healthy relationship with all her neighbours etc.. she may become stronger and earn respect .

Pakistan need not go to war with the US or do something foolish like that but atleast we should stand for our rights that 2 pakistani citizens were killed by the man and he should be punished.............i read in the newspaper that a polish embassy worker accidentally ran over a american national in his car adn fled to poland...the US authorities issued a interpol warrant for that man ....brought him back to the US adn sentenced him to jail. Why not pakistan have the rights to do the same?.....and jahangeer.....i think that enaging in waziristan is the last thing the US wants to do at the moment.....the US is trying to save their from afghanistan and maybe a threat of the saudis blocking off oil or doing something like that?

.
Not a time for Pakistan to "revolt" against USA.
Try to bring inner peace in Pakistan.....................the day it comes ,USA will see a Pakistan as equal

By no means i am saying a revolt but pakistan should at least try to stand up for the protection of its citizens against the US.

An interesting situation here..

US is one of the "A's" that has impacted Pak polity all along. This time I feel GOP is right in taking a stand, not sure how much of it is from the heart & how much to the publicity the event got & public pressure.

GOP needs to be assertive here.

I disagree with your statement to a certain extent. This is not the first time we have stood up against USA. There were many other times, such as refusal to quit our nuclear programme. During the development of our nuclear programme, our economy was on spiralling downwards, USA cuts off military ties, applied economic sanction, but we were still defiant, and we still succeeded in our nuclear programme, so this not entirely true.

Secondly, its true, a country has to be internally strong, and as you can see, many people in Pakistan do not have a good impression of USA. If you had read the news lately, people have been even calling for the death of Davis. There has always been a sense of unity in Pakistanis whenever there is a controversy between Pakistan and USA, with little minorities supporting USA unless it is really Pakistan side to be blamed.

It is very easy to say 'yes we can' but the reality is that the entire nation is dependent on US aid without which things will be a lot worse.Currently the US is the big daddy in US-PAK relations

Unless you can prove a source, that Pakistan's economy is totally dependent on USA's aids, which the aids probably won't even amount to how much we spend on the imports a year, then please do not make such ridiculous statements.

.I'mafraid there is nothing much Pakistan can do.But if she gets her act right i.e spend money where it is absolutely necessary , prevent army intervention into matters that do not concern them ,have a healthy relationship with all her neighbours etc.. she may become stronger and earn respect .
