Pakistan's acquisition of the U-214

Sorry Growler, all 6 Indian Scorpenes will be with the MESMA AIP systems. Any link to confirm the same? You are correct regarding the timeline. The first sub has however been delayed by 6 months to 2012. Value your feedback.

This can come with the installation of Mesma air-independent propulsion (AIP) systems in the last three of the six Scorpenes which will roll out of Mumbai's Mazagaon Docks between 2012 and 2017, as per the mammoth $3.5-billion contract signed with French companies on October 6.

The Pakistan Navy is reportedly negotiating for the purchase of 3 Type 214 submarines, all of which to be built in PakistanThe first submarine would be delivered to the Pakistan Navy in 64 months after signing of the contract while the rest would be completed successively in 12 months

ie 5.5 years after signing the deal the deal may take another 2-3 years that means even if pakistan signs the deal it may have the fleet of 3 subs by 2019-2020

bro i guess you have no knowledge about this deal,
if you can just go through previous posts you can find out that the U214 procurement that you have pointed to may well end up with PN getting papanikilos (the U214 build for greec) as the first sub whereas the rest of two to be build in Karachi. the deal has not been finalized yet but there are no chance even when it is finalized that all three will be build here. we will surely get papanikilos or a a U214 build in germany as our first boat with rest of two to be build here in karachi!
no o ffense to you but if you can take out some time to through last pages you will surely find a lot of intresting information!

regards!

Eurofighter will last 30 to 40 years: German envoy

NEW DELHI: Eurofighter, one of the six contenders for the multibillion-dollar tender for 126 medium multirole combat aircraft (MMRCA), offers a cutting-edge technology without the End User Monitoring clause, German ambassador Thomas Matussek has said.

“It is really a next generation plane and it will be in service for the next 30 to 40 years,” he told The Hindu. “It also comes without any End User Verification, complete transfer of technology and production.”

End User Monitoring, which created a political controversy earlier this year, is a requirement the United States insists countries to which it supplies sensitive military equipment must agree to. American firms Lockheed Martin (F16) and Boeing (F/A18) are in the fray along with the Russian MiG, Swedish SAAB (Grippen) and French Dassault (Rafale).

Barring the first batch that will be supplied off-the-shelf, all fighters will have to be made in India under transfer of technology. Mr. Matussek said the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) would shift its entire technology, which means that in the event of war, the country will not have to worry about supplies from overseas.

As for software code supply, the ambassador said it would be much higher than what some competitors, including U.S. companies, might offer.

Germany has been nominated by the four-country consortium of EADS, which produces the Eurofighter, as the lead country to pitch for the fighter aircraft in India.

Mr. Matussek, while admitting that the Eurofighter was described as “expensive” by competitors, said the life cycle maintenance cost would even out the initial high price.

According to the Defence Procurement Policy, the offset clause makes it mandatory for the manufacturer to source 50 per cent of the value from India.

Strategic partner

Mr. Matussek said Germany was keen on supplying military equipment, including submarines, for the Navy. It preferred to have India as a strategic partner and, precisely for that reason, shelved the decision to supply similar equipment to Pakistan, he said.

As for the IAF’s mid-air refuel tanker, Mr. Matussek said the deal appeared to have hit a snag, with clearance stuck in the Defence Ministry. Although there is no official confirmation, reports indicate that Airbus A330 is preferred to Boeing.

First of all Mr. Matussek is an ambassador second he is trying to get support EF in India.

Pakistan's deal is not with Mr. Matussek but with Govt. of Germany who wanted to wait for electionsin Germany.

There was another ambassador, Mr. Blake, from the US. His mouth was full of anti-Pakistan crap but in the end Pakistan is still getting F-16s and other platforms including a ship.

fiker nahee kerni aur preshaan nahee hona :coffee:

If these are the precise words of the ambassador we can safely assume that Indian complaints have had the desired effect. I don't think there is much to worry for Pakistan. Pakistan should start building more Agosta 90-B MESMA AIP variant subs. I believe that the upgraded subs serve PN requirements. Perhaps Pakistan can approach the French for more upgrades of the current Agosta. There is also the option for going nuclear with Chinese Song class submarine.

Absolutely right, Pakistan has the option to go wth French subs.
