Featured Pakistani Navy confirms Brazilian jetliner will replace Orion patrol aircraft

MAD/SAD on P3C is employed at a max height of 1,000 Ft. The optimal height is 300 ft. An engine failure at that height, albeit one out of the four, can have a catastrophic effect.

A must read for those who want to know about the operation of a P3C:
http://www.subguru.com/DW_missions/P3_Operational_Manual.pdf

It is a manual of P3C operations and tactics even though it is a for gaming scenario.

I have skimmed through an actual operations manual(s) and the above makes it simpler and on layman's terms.

Another interesting read is 225 page document but this one is more technical

Have all 10 aircraft arrived in Pakistan?

And will it go to Brazil to overhaul its engines and airframes before going to Germany for avionics and sensor upgrades?

Pakistan Navy has awarded a contract to Leonardo S.p.A. of Italy for the modification and conversion of 2+1 Embraer Lineage 1000 aircraft into Sea Sultan Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft.
The contract initially includes procurement of two Embraer Lineage 1000 aircraft from international vendor(s) and design, modification, installation, integration and operationalisation of three aircraft into MPAs. This will include all Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) and maritime patrol requirements of the Pakistan Navy.

The Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) contract for the 3 aircraft prior to modification has been awarded to the Paramount Group of South Africa. The contract may include options for modifications for a further 7 aircraft that the Pakistan Navy intends to procure in the future.

is it official?

Saab's Swordfish maritime patrol aircraft was better option in my opinion,
we have to convert 2-3 Brazilian jetliner into swordfish MPA (because SAAB is battle proven platform), which also established ecosystem our arsenal saab2000.

Having two different plateform for same role be expensive and maintenance problem, just trust whatever PN make out of Leonardo should be equally good and in good numbers
