This is indeed a news to people like me.

Till now I thought it was only the criticism of Allah/(Prophet) Muhammad or defiling of Kuran that attracted the blasphemy law.

One can easily say their country their laws, but what really makes me sad is the way it is reported:

But is that reason enough to take someone's life....I think same goes for all religions...No body has the right to take anyone's life just because he abused someone's religion....This is not the way a civil society functions....Infact I have teased others religion and have got teased back as well..so what Islam/Hinduism/Christianity etc does not get belitteled because of a few village idiots...which I have been at times as well.

Whats difference between emotionally attached with an idol and other religious fig be it a prophet or his followers or a piece of paper with religious hymns ? Theoritically it comes to idol worshiping ..If someone is following guidance given by God himself then why he need to kill people for these figures ? If prophet himself married more than four times and after Gods revelation preached not to marry more then four times its clear that he himself telling followers not to follow him and to follow Gods revelation ..Then why people rather than following Allahs guidance give so much importance to religious figures ? Are they really following their religion in its true spirit ?

Actually this is more of a sectarian crime and such people follow their sects more seriously than the actual religious teachings. So the best way out in such a situation is to not even say a word and just walk away from such fundamentalists.

Why don't you start writing articles on what you think should be the right thing to do? That is bound to make a difference... even if a little, it will make a difference.
