Pakistani Army Accused of Waziristan Killings of Civilians

It's Pak Army not the US forces operating n another country tht they would go in some road side dhaba ... N execute ppl .. N all truck drivers? Etc.. also no proof? As for mortars in the mist of war could happen but not as common as the guy says.. PA = Pakistan Army.. The most trusted institution in the country..

Leave it to Pakistanis, to get fooled & accept every misinformation spread around by stooges of foreign agencies & media .

So should we believe army word who is known to cover up many of it's misdeeds? Most recently their botched attempt to take Orakzai agency and covering up their casualties?

I never understood, instead of using COBRA's to minimize civilian casualties and carry out pin point strikes, why always use blind shelling?

It's a bitter fact but I miss drones here. Hakeemullah mehsud taken out without single civilian causality despite him living in a dense civilian population , Haqqani elders taken out in Bannu without destroying nearby houses.

Jana G .. as crude as it may have been Imran's post has some truth in it.

FATA's people have directly or indirectly been involved in crime of one type or another.

since all my life I have learned the following.

a. Car stolen .. where to look ? = FATA.
b. Buy stolen car's parts .. where to look = FATA.
c. Some one kidnapped, where to look = FATA.
d. Need drugs, where to look = FATA.
e. Want to get someone killed = FATA.
f. Smuggling of industrial goods during war = FATA
g. Smuggling go food out of Pakistan = FATA.

Now, I am not implying that every one in FATA is a criminal, however please understand no other region has such a long list of criminal accolades ( a-g).

It seems that through centuries of religious indoctrination, lack of education, medieval tribal culture and refusal to leave the old ways, has made crime second nature to these people.

:) first of all you must ask Saeed Shah why he is using fake IDs .

This is NOT his original name. His reporting is for a fixed agenda and he also knows that and all concerned quarters too.

Now coming to casualties, Uzbek terrorists have been killed and during fight there can be civilian casualties.

However, local people said 28 people, two women among them, were killed when security personnel encircled two hotels after the bomb attack and started indiscriminate firing.

Maulvi Gul Abbas of Mirali said 26 truck drivers, cleaners and labourers staying in the Dawlat Khan and Honeymoon hotels because of the curfew had been killed. Several loaded trucks were set on fire. According to reports, two women in villages adjoining the town were killed by artillery shells fired by the security forces. Several families of the area had shifted to safe places.

MNA Nazir Khan of North Waziristan discussed the situation with military officers at the Peshawar Corps Headquarters and urged them to immediately lift the curfew.

“Local people retrieved the bodies of 23 truckers and labourers from the hotels and the security forces have stopped firing,” he said.

He said the officers had assured him that the curfew would be lifted on Friday.

The MNA also said that security personnel had left Mirali town.

He said all the dead were civilians belonging to Bannu, Lakki Marwat and adjoining areas.

The MNA of N.Waziristan himself has confirmed all the casualties were civilians.

Looks Pakistanis in this thread are unable to do anything other than denial.:)

\why they were NOT involved in these activities before Afghan shit started ?

They are very much moderate people my dear.

You have kept them unprivileged. You had accommodated all the jehadis there and closed the boundaries from reach of city dwellers , you had allowed drugs there just to save your punjab and now no area is safe.

BTW your MNAs, politicians are heading rings of kidnapping, drug smuggling, ransom, car lifting, non-customs paid vehicles' illegal business.

Students protest Waziristan shelling
BUREAU REPORT

Published 2013-12-20 07:22:00
PESHAWAR: The tribal students of various educational institutions here on Thursday held a protest demonstration against the government for initiating what they called a military operation in North Waziristan Agency.

Holding banners and placards, the students gathered outside Peshawar Press Club and chanted slogans against the government.

Insaf Students Federation leader Rahim Wazir, who led the protesters, said that security forces started shelling on Wednesday night that resulted in killing and injuring of innocent people.

The tribal people, he said, were already facing serious problems owing to restrictions on their movement and prolonged curfews. The latest shelling further added to their miseries, he added.

No matter how much Imran Khan or any other leader of Pakistan protest against drones, the fact is that these drones have proven to be most effective weapon against terrorists of TTP. Since our military and our govt aren't that competent or bold to take decisions. We should have developed a our own drone and should have used it to eliminate our enemies. Only thing bad about drones right now is that they are used by America. Or else they are very good to eliminate TTP pigs.

unconfirmed reports can not be accepted neither denied.

These are for media business and tool for breathing of NGOs.

let them die its their culture and way of life whom born terror and we all suffer local are equally responsible for it . drugs guns war killing terror support and living in stone age was their way of life since 200 years so now they have to taste it more then anyone else .
Do you support death of women and children too who have nothing to do with the terrorism but are sandwiched between Pak Army and terrorists.

By the way this hotel story seems to be a bullcr@p. What the hell truck drivers were doing in a war zone with curfew in placed. Looks difficult to believe.

36 Killed, Mostly Civilians, In Pakistan Military’s Waziristan Raids
Troops March Into Truck Stop, Shoot Drivers
by Jason Ditz, December 19, 2013

If there was any need to underscore why Pakistan’s civilian government has eschewed military offensives against the tribal areas in an attempt to pursue peace talks with the Taliban, the military’s ham-fisted operations in North Waziristan today removed any doubt.

pakistan.jpg
After a truck bomb hit a military checkpoint Wednesday night, the military mobilized on a series of “raids” which overwhelmingly killed civilians who just happened to be in the areas.

The first hit in this raid was a truck stop restaurant near the attacked checkpoint, where troops marched in and mowed down truckers by the dozen, declaring them all “hardcore terrorists.”

Other offensives targeted hotels in the surrounding area, where troops killed ethnic Uzbeks, noting the Taliban faction which claimed credit for the Wednesday strike claims Uzbek support.

Early in the day the military had rejected any reports of civilian casualties as false, which is par for the course for them, but by the evening sources were conceding thatat least three of the 36 slain, women and children killed in shelling, were “civilians.”

In addition to the killings, the military said it destroyed a number of houses that it suspected belong to “dissidents,” and have cut off all telephone service to the surrounding area, likely to prevent more reports of civilian casualties from emerging while the story is still fresh.

Local politicians were harshly critical of the operation, saying that the heavy-handed tactics were alienating locals, and that every civilian killed in the operation meant a whole family that was likely to support the Taliban in the future.

As for your comments, look my family left NWFP after Afghans came in.
However that where concludes that locals did not have a passion for crime before.

I agree afghans industrialized and aggregated the problem many folds.
