Pakistan wants to rebuild ties with the U.S, says Gilani

This is rhetoric, unless concrete steps are taken to show that this is indeed the case, then we shouldn't be assuming anything.

One phone call from White House to their puppet and Pakistan agree to take part in the conference on diplomatic level. Simply Shameless

What you mean? Gilani already said clearly. Hiliary Clinton gave a phone call to Gilani for offering condelences and urge him to attent Bonn conference. Gilani buffed and reject to attend Bonn conference over a just phone call from the US.

PM unmoved by Hillary

For those who are jumping with joy must recall the statement that White House issued "Obama not to offer formal condolences over Nato attack" but he did offer! Its called diplomacy..

For the people that think Pakistan will be attending the conference: open your eyes, the conference has already started!

Useless discussion without Pakistan participation.

 Ehem! We havn't attended Bonn conference , thats what matters ...:pakistan:

Emmie, there has to be a clear difference between Diplomacy and Self Respect... Just because Obama offered condolences, Pakistan now goes ahead to say that they want to re-build relations at only that much isn't good dimplomacy ... 28 families had lost a breadwinner and there is no way, you can color this statement as diplomacy.

If Gilani has said it, it doesn't seem in a good taste to me, because one, the public mood is one of rage against what has happened and two, on human grounds, it was a travesty to kill full uniformed soldiers under the guise that they were hunting millitants. Agreed that attacking Nato is not a solution, but going back to them from your side, when you know their neck is under your knee and offering to 'kiss and make up' is not a great manouvering either...

Will such discussions have any meaning if Pakistan is not involved? looks like they thing they can run the play without one of the main protagonist... doesn't make real sense to me

Going against a world power is an insane move but I also don't think gov is that stupid to avoid people's say, for hell sake it has become an intentional issue. Will be interest to see how gov would retaliate.

The Bonn conference without Pakistan is nothing more than high-tea for VIP's.
There is no country with more influence on what happens in Afghanistan(REGARDLESS of what others may try to change) than Pakistan. We still control the gas supply to this pressure cooker...

However.. expect things to go back to normal within a few days, and US will think of other ways to reduce our potency in the region whilst moving faster to shift the focus to our nukes.

DEAR PAKISTAN, HAVE SOME SELF RESPECT.:tdown::tdown::tdown::tdown:

the lose is only for the families of the murdered soldiers.

On top of that, Shamsi airbase is being vacated, & the supply lines are still closed. So I don't see any difference to the past few days.
Looks like U.S still throwing burden on Pakistan in Bonn conference.. But this time we must continue our current stand...and have to play our turn carefully...

our nation still in a state of disbeleif....PAKISTAN DID NOT ATTEND BONN CONFERENCE

Most issues in discussion is about funds contributions, financial disbursements, donations, aids, and corruptions, not wars discussions. Meaningless conferences.

Clinton says Pakistan boycott of Bonn conference ‘unfortunate’

Clinton said it was “unfortunate” that Pakistani officials boycotted the conference.

While she voiced her disappointment towards Islamabad’s decision, Clinton said that she expected Pakistan to play a constructive role in neighbouring Afghanistan.

Afghanistan needs help for at least another decade: Karzai

Afghan President Hamid Karzai told the conference that his country would need international help for at least another decade.

Karzai told around 1,000 delegates gathered in the western German city of Bonn for the one-day meeting that his government would battle corruption and work toward national reconciliation but it needed firm international backing.

“We will need your steadfast support for at least another decade” after the troops pull out, he said.
