Pakistan unlikely to get access to sensitive Russian technologies | Russia & India Report

Senior experts believe that Moscow is likely to slowly increase defence cooperation with Islamabad, but that is unlikely to affect Indo-Russian strategic ties.

Pakistan, which is looking to buy Mi-35 helicopters from Russia, is unlikely to get access to sensitive technologies.

Ruslan Pukhov, head of the Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies told RIR that certain technologies like those required for creation of supersonic cruise missiles like the BrahMos would not wind up in Pakistani hands. Russia will also not lease nuclear submarines or share design technology used for the fifth generation fighter aircraft (FGFA), he added.

It was widely reported that Russia was going to lift an arms embargo on Pakistan, but both Rostec Chief Executive Sergey Chemezov and Russian Ambassador to India, Alexander Kadakin denied that such an embargo was ever in place.

Chemezov indicated this week that Russia was looking to supply Mi-35 helicopters to Pakistan. Although India has not officially commented on the development, there has a mild frenzy in the Indian media.

Fantastic source, I can't breath.

I was waiting for this Indian attack.

what kind of sensitive technology?? sub ko pta hai ka russia kya bnata hai yara  anyways we are ok with that

If we need to lease a nuclear sub, we can do it from China, there is certainly no need of doing that from Russia. Same stands for 5th generation fighter plane.
Pakistan is interested in gunships and that's about it, maybe upgraded engines for JF-17 and thats about it.

We have gone over and beyond the Indo Pak rhetoric, Pak has been relegated to a bilateral issue at max. The whole embargo thingy is all Russian media - one Russian chap says embargo has been lifted, the other says there was no embargo in the first place, yet another Russian says that no sensitive items will be given to Pak, yet another says Indo- Rus relations is one of the most exciting and important one right now.

And, in all this Russian rhetoric, India hasn't even issued a comment, while Pakistan is going crazy over the so called lifting of the embargo - so what does it prove? simply that we do not consider it important to give a comment or a view point. It's best that we do not waste time on such silly games.

I think people picking up this news bit late, or because this time its with some detail, few weeks back this news appeared in Pakistani media without any detail. NS cabinet has already approve the agreement with Russia defence ministry.

below are the links.....
