Pakistanis are a smart breed. For their operations against Taliban, they are planning to buy Russian helis which are proven failures against Taliban.

MI-25, though not as sophisticated as T-129, can act both as troop carrier and gunship.

That is the reason why PA may be looking for Mi-35s because when PA dropped troops with their transport helos they came under fire and Cobras are needed to provide cover / support and PA is already short of Attach helos therefore PA may have decided that they need a helo for COIN which can do both jobs, also Mi-35 is more protected then Mi-17s so troops will be much safer at the time of drop.

As for T-129s PA need similar class attack helo for their eastern front where Mi-35 could work as support helos.

Can you calcify whether PAF is looking for MI 25 or MI 35?

Some sources say it is looking for Mi 25 while some suggest it is looking to acquire Mi 35.

Anything less powerful than 23 mm cannon, hardly bothers Hind.

First thing is that PAF don't operate attack helicopters PAA does that and I can't confirm which variant they are going for.

That will be one of the strong reasons PAA is going for Hinds.
