ASELSAN has made the UV Missile Warning system used in TAF helicopters 100% domestic The system was completely nationalized. Exported to Chile.

Helicopter Electronic Warfare System (HEWS)​

ASELSAN HEWS system is a fully integrated Electronic Warfare Self Protection Suit, specifically developed to protect Turkish Armed Forces air platforms from RF, IR and Laser guided threats. HEWS is comprised of the sensor subsystems - Radar Warning Receiver System (RWR) - Missile Warning System (MWS) - Laser Warning Receiver System (LWR) and the countermeasures subsystems - RF Jammer System (RFJ) - CounterMeasure Dispenser System (CMDS) - IR CounterMeasure System (IRCM) all integrated around a Suit Central Processing Subsystem. HEWS employs single point control of the self protection suite via an Advanced Human-Machine Interface on Multi Function Display.

Helicopter Electronic Warfare System (HEWS) is the “Integrated Self Protection System” developed by ASELSAN for fixed and rotary wing aircrafts. Integrated via a Suite Central Processing System, HEWS provides

Radar Warning,
Missile Warning,
Laser Warning,
RF Jamming,
Chaff/Flare Dispensing

functions with complete situational awareness and threat specific countermeasure application capabilities.

RWR with the digital receivers operating in the narrow and wide bands together with optional geolocation capability and RFJ making use of Digital RF Memory (DRFM) technology together with the “state-of-the-art” solid state active electronically scanned phased array provides RF spectrum coverage with the most advanced countermeasure techniques. As an integrated and adaptive EW self-protection system, HEWS performs multispectral threat evaluation with an advanced decision fusion process. HEWS applies the optimized countermeasures, including combined techniques to defeat the identified radar and/or missile threat. The Suite provides an advanced human-machine interface, indicative audio warnings and alerts, in-flight event recording, pulse description word recording, blanking management, single point mission data file and mission report loading/downloading, night vision goggles compatibility, GPS/INS/IMU usage.

HEWS is designed with an open architecture which enables the flexibility to change the system configuration depending on the platform requirements without SW modification.

"The one-third model of the Levent launcher, which can host 21 missiles, was exhibited nearby the Sungur turret installed on a BMC Kirpi 4×4 vehicle, this latter system being in the very last phase of qualification. With an 8 km maximum range and a 4 km maximum altitude, the Sungur is a lock-on-before-launch missile fitted with an Imaging Infra-Red seeker. Powered by a two-stage solid propellant rocket motor, it is fitted with an HE partial piercing warhead and can destroy targets at a minimum distance of 500 meters."
