The assailants drove two cars loaded with explosives into the outer wall out of desperation.
With unflinching bravery and professional skill, our brave soldiers fought the invaders with accuracy, killing all sixteen terrorists, including four suicide bombers. After heroically defending themselves during this fierce firefight, five courageous troops accepted martyrdom while performing their duties.
The perimeter wall partially collapsed as a result of the numerous suicide explosions, damaging the nearby infrastructure. Thirteen innocent people were martyred and thirty-two others were injured as a result of the tragic demolition of a nearby mosque and a civilian residential structure.
Physical involvement of Afghan nationals in this horrific act has been firmly established by intelligence sources and there is proof that the attack was planned and carried out by Khwarij ring leaders operating out of Afghanistan.
Pakistan anticipates that the Interim Afghan Government will fulfill its obligations and prevent terrorists from using its territory against Pakistan. Pakistan maintains the right to respond to these threats coming from the other side of the border by taking the appropriate action.
Pakistan security forces are unwavering in their determination to combat terrorism in all of its manifestations. Our steadfast dedication to protecting our country at all costs is further demonstrated by the sacrifices made by our valiant warriors and defenseless citizens.
