What's new

Pakistan to oppose any change in governance model of ICC

that is upto us :D

you may get more games but i don think you will get it against big teams like aus,ind.........
the reason is there is a proposal to break the existing format into groups........
either you will be playing with ind, aus, rsa, srilanka or with wi,zim, kenya, afgan, ireland

this model was proposed to give more games to teams like bd
this model wasnt proposed by India

the problem with india is.......it has a tight schedule.........we play with all teams
last year we played with pak, aus, eng, rsa,wi,zim, champions trophy,ipl......this year started with nzl then there is asia cup,t20 world cup, ipl,

this year....we might see india-bd series....
you cant accuse india of not playing.....we play with everyone

there is already a thread.....
the games india plays with its neighbours

My assessment on the situation:

India, England, Australia will all vote in favour of big three as they are going to be the biggest beneficiaries. New Zealand has also opted to vote in favour of this decision.

Conclusion: +4 VOTES for Yes

South Africa, Sri Lanka and Pakistan has already strongly opposed this decision.

Bangladesh has also opposed but admitted they do not have much power in the ICC. The way they are commenting, they are likely to vote against it.

Conclusion: -4 VOTES for No

West Indies seems confused and they are still discussing the matter. They have opted to refrain from making any statement over the matter until they reach conclusion.

Zimbabwe if for vote sake asked is likely to vote for No due to diplomatic reasons. They have had problems with English cricket board and their tour was even cancelled due to political reasons. Why would they want to see their political-enemy taking over the whole of cricket board and dictate them even further?

Requirement: At least 7 out of 10 ranked nations need to vote for Yes in order for this proposal to go through. 4 nations seems definitely against the idea in my opinion West Indies & Zimbabwe too seems like will vote against it.

I think having the proposal of big three on board itself is a big achievement but it is highly unlikely to ever become reality.

be prepared for anything.
Countries may take a different stand then what they say. They fear BCCI. The boards left alone will suffer the most. Things dont look good for PCB.

I would also like to highlight the bitter relationship of CSA and BCCI. This big three proposal has technically divided the ICC and formed two lobbies that are likely to remain in near future to support & defend each other's cause.

Lobby 1: BCCI, ECB, ACB, NZC falling in one lobby
Lobby 2: PCB, CSA, SLC and BCB forming a lobby against Lobby 1's dictatorship.

West Indies, Zimbabwe are considered minnow in ICC meetings anyway and they are likely to remain as neutral as possible.

This lobby is going to remain in near future and will only bring more chaos to ICC.

Imagine, CSA is number 1 ranked Test team, Sri Lanka is number 1 ranked T-20 team in the world and they will be governed by number 8 T-20 ranked side Australia just because they can fetch more money in the game?

though i dont support what the indian board is doing
but if we look practically.......its very much possible.......
bcci demands 70 percent of the icc revenue.....
without bcci......there wont be any money

cash stricken pcb needs series with biggies like India for its operation.....

regarding countries..........those who will oppose are rsa,sri lanka,bd and pak

zim,wi they will support us.....mark my words..........
the 4 countries which are oppsing cant form a cricket council among themselves......even if they do so,it will fall within some time

now coming to the countries that support us.....
India,Aus,ECB,Nzl,WI,Zim...............we can include teams like ireland, afganistan, kenya

and a new coucil could be formed

dont you think so

So its mean you criminally supporting politics in sport ?

if its for not bcci...these whites would've sabotaged this game from our asians...
like they did with hockey!

I don't like the new system proposed by BCCI, CA and ECB. It's like going back to the old days when ACB and ECB had veto power in ICC. BCCI fought very hard in the 1990s to get rid of that duopoly.

if its for not bcci...these whites would've sabotaged this game from our asians...
like they did with hockey!
Yup hockey used to be a lot like football...so free flowing. That was our strength.
If you look at hockey now .. its become so weird and artificial. We have penalty corners, penalty hits, rolling substitutions and what not,
And the biggest blow was introducing and later mandating astro turf... not only does it cost lakhs of Rupees in initial investment and annual upkeep, even the shoes needed to play on it cost Rs10k.How are indian kids going to get practise on it ?
India-Pak used to be to Hockey like Brazil and Argentina are to football with lots of skillful, if less disciplined players.

Just imagine how different football would be if hockey rules were applied to it.

And ultimatly countries who changed the rules harmed the game itself as India complely lost interest after the rules changed and they lost out on all that endorsement moolah that comes with us.
/Rant over

Cricket is going our way though with smaller boundaries,20-20 and now this :D
Does anyone remember a few years ago the fight used to be betwwen BCCI and CA/ECB combination ?
If you can't beat them...

Miffed with the changes being proposed in the ICC's administrative structure, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said it will oppose any overhaul that will cede executive decision-making to India, Australia and England.

A draft proposal on these lines will be presented to the ICC executive board during its quarterly meeting in Dubai on January 28 and 29.

A member of the PCB governing board told PTI that at the meeting held on Saturday in Lahore, the members had made it clear to reinstated chairman Zaka Ashraf that the draft proposal should be opposed strongly at the ICC meeting. (Read: India, Australia and England could soon rule cricket)

"The governing board was firm that this was a very sensitive issue for Pakistan and the PCB should go to the ICC meeting well prepared to give strong arguments against the proposed changes," the member said. (Also read: South Africa becomes first nation to officially oppose ICC's plan)

"The governing board made it clear that the draft proposal basically would divide the world cricket order and Pakistan should not accept any position in the lower tier," he added.

He said the governing board has authorised Ashraf to use all possible means to convince the ICC against going ahead with the changes.

Another source disclosed that the chairman had been asked to contact other boards which will be affected by the proposed changes and ensure a unified stance at the ICC meeting.

"The PCB chief has been advised to form a unified stance on the matter with South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and West Indies before the ICC meeting," he informed. (Related: New Zealand Cricket backs proposed changes)

The proposal, drafted by a "working group" of the ICC's Finance & Commercial Affairs (F&CA) committee, in which the BCCI, CA and ECB are key members, recommends wide-ranging changes in the ICC's revenue distribution model, administrative structures and the Future Tours Programme.

It questions the relevance of Test rankings and suggests the reinstatement of the Champions Trophy over the World Test Championship. And almost every recommendation of the "position paper" gives a larger share of control over world cricket to the Australian, English and Indian Cricket boards -- both in the boardroom and on the field.

i think all the other cricket boards should break away from the icc and just let australia, uk and india play each other.

So its mean you criminally supporting politics in sport ?

read the first line of my post........i was just stating its practically possible.........if bcci will want......boards like nzl,wi,zim, ireland, kenya, afghan, ecb and aussies will support it

and theremaining 4 boards will ultimately fall in line

PCB can do jack......
BCCI will rule......
