Miffed with the changes being proposed in the ICC's administrative structure, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said it will oppose any overhaul that will cede executive decision-making to India, Australia and England.

A draft proposal on these lines will be presented to the ICC executive board during its quarterly meeting in Dubai on January 28 and 29.

A member of the PCB governing board told PTI that at the meeting held on Saturday in Lahore, the members had made it clear to reinstated chairman Zaka Ashraf that the draft proposal should be opposed strongly at the ICC meeting. (Read: India, Australia and England could soon rule cricket)

"The governing board was firm that this was a very sensitive issue for Pakistan and the PCB should go to the ICC meeting well prepared to give strong arguments against the proposed changes," the member said. (Also read: South Africa becomes first nation to officially oppose ICC's plan)

"The governing board made it clear that the draft proposal basically would divide the world cricket order and Pakistan should not accept any position in the lower tier," he added.

He said the governing board has authorised Ashraf to use all possible means to convince the ICC against going ahead with the changes.

Another source disclosed that the chairman had been asked to contact other boards which will be affected by the proposed changes and ensure a unified stance at the ICC meeting.

"The PCB chief has been advised to form a unified stance on the matter with South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and West Indies before the ICC meeting," he informed. (Related: New Zealand Cricket backs proposed changes)

The proposal, drafted by a "working group" of the ICC's Finance & Commercial Affairs (F&CA) committee, in which the BCCI, CA and ECB are key members, recommends wide-ranging changes in the ICC's revenue distribution model, administrative structures and the Future Tours Programme.

It questions the relevance of Test rankings and suggests the reinstatement of the Champions Trophy over the World Test Championship. And almost every recommendation of the "position paper" gives a larger share of control over world cricket to the Australian, English and Indian Cricket boards -- both in the boardroom and on the field.

NZ has already come in support of this...about time others fall in line.

I know they have...but the proposal had a clause that apart from Big 3, there will be a 4th member as well who will be part of the same committee but will be elected by the Big 3 themselves and one doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to understand that it will be SAF more often than not. The time India-Eng-Aus hand over this lollipop to SAF, I doubt they will have any more reservation. Anyhow, SAF will always be a part of Top tier.

sorry, do not trust on this issue LOL BCB president already has given hint of opposition :D

we have RAW agents everywhere in bangladesh.......dont we have any in BCB.......you never know......ask jamatis, they will tell you

though i dont support what the indian board is doing
but if we look practically.......its very much possible.......
bcci demands 70 percent of the icc revenue.....
without bcci......there wont be any money

cash stricken pcb needs series with biggies like India for its operation.....

regarding countries..........those who will oppose are rsa,sri lanka,bd and pak

zim,wi they will support us.....mark my words..........
the 4 countries which are oppsing cant form a cricket council among themselves......even if they do so,it will fall within some time

now coming to the countries that support us.....
India,Aus,ECB,Nzl,WI,Zim...............we can include teams like ireland, afganistan, kenya

and a new coucil could be formed

dont you think so

bcci's demand of 70% is illogical.
anyway Zim and wi both are in financial crisis, like bd , zim also do not get much matches and also not played in India, has trust issue. Same with West Indies, they are not good in financial postion.
now come to practical point beside trust issue.
India, England and Australia gets more crowd in all format than others, which means the more they play among themselves with ICC money, they will generate more money- which is the main objective of this proposal.
which means less matches for others. without new format, now check how many games has been played so far by these countries in this current ranking. India, Australia and England are on top :LOL

so bye bye

never.. we do not get much chance to play... if we support it we will be sitting for one year to play one match.

What you think England,Australia and India will play against each other only?????? Ok now let me ask if you get to play the same no of games as of now will you support :P
