Not sure if either the satellite or SLV is indigenous....... they even forgot to mention the payload......... seems like PMLN's metro scheme.....

1. XX billion rupees (of course BILLION rupees, however, who's building it?)
2. HQ will be based in LAHORE (of course it will be, obviously near a metro terminal, where you can drive to in a yellow cab with your Shahbaz Laptop in your briefcase, and communicate via TELECONFERENCING room)

There are two satellites under construction in SUPARCO as I have said on another thread. One at SRDC Lahore and another at SRDC Karachi. From what I hear from people working on the lahore satellite the major mechanical systems are locally produced.

Good news,we as Indians should help them,we can launch it and place it in orbit,when we launch our own sat,we might have to carry extra payload,hey we can do that for our neighbours.

Their tech is just borrowed from china ..... As an engineer I can say that their 2750 range missile has all the knowledge to launch a satellite in LEO. If it was their own tech , they would just launch a nano satallite (7 kg) in LEO . can be done within months of taking the decision.

Now , for this satellite , the headline is wrong as pakistan has no proven SLV. The launch will be done by chinese.
Let us see who fabricates the satellite.

i am sure Pakistan has SLV tech but using it to send satellites in orbit means that Pakistan can also turn those transports into ICBMs and we all know how much double standards this world have when it comes to Pakistan Nuclear program ...... Islamabad: Pakistan has decided to send another state of the art satellite into space to fortify its position in space and a sum of Rs. 7 billion has been allocated in the budget 2015-16 for this program.

Pakistan is likely to be able to launch the new satellite in the space by the end of 2018. Headquarter of this satellite program will be set up in Lahore. Work will also be initiated for establishment of satellite station under SPARCO. The new project will be started in the upcoming financial year 2015-16.

The neighboring countries China and India outnumber Pakistan in the quantity of satellites held by them and they are reaping enormous economic and defense benefits from them. On the other hand Pakistan had launched one satellite in space earlier. The launching of the new satellite will usher in new revolution in the domain of communication in Pakistan besides bolstering country’s potential for satellite monitoring and achieving defense targets. This program will also help in ensuring equitable distribution of water among four provinces under 1991 water apportionment accord.

The sources said this objective will be achieved within three years and more 14 billion rupees will be earmarked for this project in the federal budget of next two fiscal years.

Pakistan should concentrate on developing their own SLV if they want to become formidable power in Space Arena.
