Pakistan Steel Mills Corp. will import 40,000 metric tons of iron ore from Iran to speed up steel production, state-run Iranian news agency Fars reported, citing unidentified individuals.
Importing iron ore from Iran costs less than buying the steelmaking raw material on international markets and saves time, Fars said, without elaborating on the transaction.
The first consignment of 20,000 tons will reach Port Qasim, Karachi, this month and a second will arrive by early June, it said.

good move, btw how do you see US pov here?

. .
hope we improve trade relations with iran that will save time and money also help both countries.

.
Maybe part of the new barter deals we keep hearing about. Wheat for iron? lol

srsly, who give two shits what they think? I never understand this mentality. If Pak has to care about what some douchebag country half a planet away thinks, it will never get anywhere. After the US is gone, someone else will replace it and the cycle will continue. If Pakistan is going to care about the likes of united snakes, it will never get anywhere.

Good decision there by Pakistan. Both countries would benefit immensely from this and hope for more trade between both Iran and Pakistan.

US won't be too happy with this I guess, but that should take a backseat anyway when compared to national interests. We do the same to a certain extent too anyways. :agree:

I have to agree with you on this one. Every country has to look out for their national interests first before giving in to the demands of the West or the superpower. We practice the same policy anyway, we go along with the US as long as it doesn't conflict with our own interests. A line has to be drawn somewhere definitely in international relations.

How are we planning to pay for these imports?
Hard cash across the border? Not impossible if to be sanctioned by government.

Each year billions of ruppees are sent from Pakistan to Iran in the name of Khums by the Shia businessmen..so it is very important to negate that effect by maintaining balance of trade with Iran - by importing their goods and energy.

No, actually I was talking about the sanctions part they have imposed.. Pakistan being their biggest non-NATO ally.

Pakistan should look towards free trade with Iran.

That is one of the best ideas I have heard for a while

Dude, the sanctions are not Pakistan centric rather they are Iran centric, Pakistan is hated but they do give you aid and help you secure aid and loans from IMF..
