Pakistan to Exercise Options for More F-16s

Well I think - F16 C/D is a separate option in order to enhance our Air force's performance

Its completely separate process then JF17 thunder , and J10B - so I feel we are ok to let this option stay also this helps to modernize our air-force
While its not a long term option but we are safe with a 80 strong Air-force of F16 even in defensive role

81 F16 C/D
100 JF17 Thunder
36 J10B

Its a wonderful - option - for 2011 estimates , its great also that we will just get the planes we origionally ordered replaced rightfully and that concludes the matter from 1990's

For me the big news is second OHP class frigate in the package for our navy

18 F16 C/D , plus 1 OHP frigate (refurbished and weapon upgraded) , and 3 P3 orions
plus weapons for F16 C/D is good option

1.2 billion for 18 F16 , missiles, weapons, support , engine spares
1.2 billion for 3 More Orions (Navy)
1.3 billion for x 2 OHP frigate, Harpoons , Torpedoes, air defence

please kindly provide a link to these numbers you mentioned above..
as far as i know Orions DO NOT cost that much!
$1.2billion for 3 orions......
even IN bought P-8I for $220 million each!

the numbers you provided are not real, unless you provide a source...

I really don't know, why we don't learn from our past mistakes?

What's the use of getting more sanction-prone F-16s (most probably with the kill switch also).

What we should be doing is diverting that money towards JF17 Blk 2 and J10/FC20 programs.

. .
yes we need more as we think f-16 is only fighter on earth .lolz every truck wrote on his body F-16 in pakistan heehehehhe

Hi,

To me it looks like that the F 16 will be flying for another 30---40 years---with the astronomical cost of the current two leading aircraft, the F 16 will be possibly upgraded maybe a time or two or three-----.

Unlike the mirage 2000, the F 16 has provided timely support to most of its users with useful upgrades in the form of technology and upgrades and customizing the aircraft for its buyers to meet their needs. A better marketing and a user friendly campaign ( pakistan ) has kept it abreast of many a opponent and will continue to do so.

Ang,

My good man, how could I miss that----yes we already have the infra structure---which means that now our pilot can literally jump into the seat and take off and do his thing that he does the best.

Pakistan needs to adjust its attitude towards the americans and look for long term issues while putting the americans on priority list---this pi-ssing match with the americans will lead us to no where good.

Our current jf 17---is about two to three years away from showing its full fledged capabilities and potential----now remember this----this jf 17 is only a ground strike aircraft----the blk2 with be equipped be bvr's----which means---more growing pains---then the FC 20---building and manufacturing---starting all over again----.

Bottomline----it was a bad bad decision to stop the purchase of the second tranche of the blk52 F 16's-----paf blundered again---one more time----.

My great sir... JF-17 blk-I is already BVR capable .. havent u seen the pics?

Though id like to see more F-16s in PAF but im scared of another sanction ... its still a big concern... why should we buy 18 f-16s for 3 billion dollars when we can buy 50+ JF-17s with comparable avionics or invest more in FC-20?

Also US-Navy should return our 14 f-16s aswell ...

Anyways all the best to PAF. Hope we dont get sanctioned by usa the badmash of the village..;)

.
In our haste to voice our displeasure over this procurement (me included), why are we overlooking the already present infrastructure, training, and understanding of the platform PAF has in regards to the f-16s. The more advanced jf-17s and j-10s wil take years to deploy in an effective manner...for pilots to gain a respectable amount of flying hours and understand the strengths and weaknesses of these platforms. The f-16s have been operated for years and the pilots have a great understanding of the platform.
In the short term, the greatest way to bolster our air force was to procure more block 52s...the potential problems with spares may be there, but I am one of the few who feels, most our problems with the US would go away if we stopped our two faced style of politics, but that is a point for another thread.

Are you talking about future or saying that currently JF-17 avionics are comparable to block52???

why are we overlooking the already present infrastructure, training, and understanding of the platform PAF has in regards to the f-16s.

But what would infrastructure, training and understanding of the platform matter when the relations between supplier and end user are.... well you know what they are.

Lets put this another way, we had infrastructure, training and understanding of the platform in the 90's - what use were the F16 then???

Lets do the adult thing, lets see things the way they are not the way we wish they were -- the US and Pakistan are not going to enjoy any depth to their relations - so long as China is number one in the minds and hearts of the Pakistani, the US will not be able to find reason to accommodate itself with Pakistani policy. Sad, yes, true? you decide.

Blk-I is 80% as capable as the new 52+ tht PAF uses... which will change in the next blk making it on par or superior to f-16..... n thn we have fc-20 as an option.

qouting Hkhan from pakdef

36 F-16 C/D Block 52+ contract was for approximately $3 billion.

18 F-16 C/D Block 52 @ $1.42 billion

$628 million for all the armaments (AIM-120, Sidewinders, JDAM, 2000lbs bombs, LGM kits, etc)

$95 million for 500 Sidewinders
The second batch of Block 52+ will be not cost $1.42 billion since most of the training and infrastructure will be in place.

PAF buying more Block 52+ has zero bearing on the procurement programs of JF-17 and FC-20 or MMRC (not sure why folks equate the procurement of any weapon system with Bharati plans).

the costs been given in this thread are mostly inaccurate

Really...if true then its amazing...Can i say that JF-17 as of now is 80% as good a fighter as block-52??....with due respect sounds a little overstatement because the way i see JF-17 is still in its infancy....anyways its ur fighter so you would know more

.
Come on guys, put this silliness about percentages to rest - discuss seriously

Donot pay much heed to hkhan, telling much low values of planes,

Before said, H Khan is a two year old living in american, chawal from Pakdef forum. We already have new F16 block 52 in our inventory y beg more to benefit the corrupt & slaves in PAF?

The a$$ doesnot even know bharat is the enemy, and it costs money to sustain jf-17s, j10s and these sanction prone expensive new 18 f16s, while we already have new ones. can our economy which is near to default sustain this and what abt common pakistanis?

$90 million for one F-16 block 52 = Holy f*ck!!
