The Pakistan government is in the final stages of approving the construction of the country's second large shipyard at Gwadar, the deep sea port built by China in southwestern Pakistan, as it expands its facilities for constructing and maintaining maritime equipment.

Rana Tanveer Hussain, the minister for defence production, told journalists on 6 October in Islamabad, "We have sent a summary [for approval of the project] to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and we are waiting for his approval."

Senior government officials told IHS Jane's the summary consists of the final recommendations from the Pakistan Navy and will likely be approved.

Thats going to take off stress from Karachi; good job!

. . . . . .
second largest? the current ship yard is tiny. 3 berths 2 of them are dry dock and the maximum capacity is 27000 tones. any smaller you may as well not bother. what is needed, is to increase incentives to attract builders such stx, samsung and daewoo to invest and build ships there.

also an enclosed submarine manufacturing facility. like what we have with Devonshire dock hall (shown below.) also if you can build naval frigates and destroyers in a hall too then that would be beneficial as this would hide manufacturing techniques and the structural layout of the vessel

devonshire dockhall. Astute class submarines are manufactured there. and the vanguard replacement is also going to be built there.

An Arleigh Burke class destroyer being build in a hall at the Bath iron work. the specific ship is the DDG-51

but let china create a factory then PAK NAVY will decide how many :butcher:

KSEW is also being expanded and modernised and is enough for the 4 subs to be built in Pakistan. Naval Dock Yard can also handle some of the work as infrastructure was built for Khalid subs.
