Pakistan successfully test-fires Shaheen 1-A ballistic missile [900 km]

Depressed trajectory[edit]
Throw-weight is normally calculated using an optimal ballistic trajectory from one point on the surface of the Earth to another. An optimal trajectory maximizes the total payload (throw-weight) using the available impulse of the missile. By reducing the payload weight, different trajectories can be selected which either extends the nominal range, or decreases the total time in flight. A depressed trajectory is a non-optimal, lower and flatter trajectory which takes less time between launch and impact, but with a lower throw-weight. The primary reasons to choose a depressed trajectory are either to evade anti-ballistic missile systems by reducing the time available to shoot down the attacking vehicle (especially during the vulnerable burn-phase against space-based ABM systems), or in a nuclear first-strike scenario.[5] An alternate, non-military, purpose for a depressed trajectory is in conjunction with the space plane concept with use of air-breathing engines, which requires the ballistic missile to remain sufficiently low inside the atmosphere for air-breathing engines to function.

Congratulations! Shaheen-1A is a sophisticated weapon system that can precisely deliver nuclear strike to major enemy cities like Delhi, and Mumbai etc.

But wait for @sharma1111 to come along and tell you how Shaheen-1A was imported by Pakistan from China and how Pakistan can't even produce steel pipes, let alone ballistic missiles :rofl:

Shaheen-III and Shaheen-1A tested in last week. Interesting. Both missiles incorporate newer technologies and both weapon-systems are being tested by Pakistan's strategic institutions while indians keep crying "NO!!!! Pakistan SUCKS!!! This missile is CHINESE!!!!! UGHHHHH!!!!!"

Sarkaar, depressed trajectory is useful for ICBM-class missiles, and specially for nations having greater distances between them such as US &China/Russia. In case of Pakistan, India is literally next door and any launch of ballistic missile will be detected as soon as it appears over the horizon, no matter how depressed trajectory it has.
In our scenario, only Iskander-type hypersonic quasi-ballistic missiles will be useful in reducing detection time and evading ABMs.
After Dadu incident, they are firing at sea. Smart move.
BS, only Ghauris are tested over land. The entire Shaheen series has been tested (except one or two operational exercises) over the waters.
It was a liquid fuel Ghauri and it was also headed into the Arabian Sea :rolleyes:

You didnt get me. .Do you have the Details of #1 ?

Btw.. for the sake of facts... Agni 4 is More related to Agni 5 rather Agni II.
Agni 4 was a Pure new Research with Highly reduced Weight.

Agni I and II are now Obsolete and Referred as "Vintage". Agni III has 2 Versions , the second being half the weight of the original design.
