Which statement are you refering to? The statement of Rana Sanaullah?

If you are indeed refering to the statement of Rana Sana, as quoted in Dawn story, then it's out of context. The reporter has not given the full story. Again, the funds have not been given to JuD. The funds have been given to the Punjab government's administration which is running these institutions.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan admitted to having given the money to the JD.

He told DawnNews on Tuesday that the money was given to these institutions after the organisation was banned (following the Mumbai attacks on Nov 26, 2008) and administrator was appointed by the government.

The purpose of giving this grant, he said, was to continue the welfare services provided by the organisation’s schools, dispensaries and hospitals.

A Punjab government spokesman denied having given money to the JD. He clarified that the grant had been given to the administrator for welfare services.

UN is itself a pathetic organization. Worthless. Nobody cares about it's decisions.
:)

That is not any way of properly making an argument in favor of your position.

Whether the UN is an ineffective organization or not, you should realize that so long as Pakistan is a member it has a commitment to abide by the UN Charter and implement whatever is necessary.

In this case the sanctions on the JuD by the UNSC, even if applied without any transparency and the right for the accused to defend themselves, must be implemented by Pakistan, which means no funds to the JuD organization.

As some other members pointed out, the funds went to an administrator appointed by the Government of Punjab to run certain assets of the JuD that had been set up to provide social services, and not the the JuD itself

Aaaahhhhhh..........I would like to see one thread related to Pakistan and India that doesn't end up anything more than a Di** measuring contest.
Anyway, according to Pakistani law, both parties in a legal battle are assumed to be innocent until proven otherwise. That is why, until Hafiz Saeed is proven to be a conspirator in the 26/11 attacks, he and his organizations are clear.
To prove them to be accomplices, India has to let Pakistan interview Kasab, whether it be through video phone or in person, then you can hang him for all we care. This is the reason why their loans were turned into grants, another reason for this is that most of the JuD institutions i.e: Hospitals, Orphanages, Ambulance networks, Mosques and Madrassahs are under Govt protection because JuD are involved in a legal battle, so in essence the Govt just gave a grant to itself, rather than to the JuD.

When JuD has been declared a terrorist organisation by the UN, whey are no steps taken to close down all the offices of JUD.

One member said an administrator has been appointed to oversee the welfare activities of JUD.

why does not pak govt take over all those institutions, why should they still be treated as part of JUD ?

Yar tum log kuch sunay kay leay tayar he nahi ho tou.

Money was not given to thn all of the organization assets are under Government control . and they are running those institution and for running these welfare institutions they need money so whts this mess GoP gave money to admins to runn these facilities thts it .

FYI JuD is ban in Pakistan. even there is no proof against them . We have to ban thm coz UN has put santion on tht organisation.

Now wht.

Pakistan 'gave funds' to group on UN terror blacklist

Pakistan's Punjab province government gave about $1m (£674,000) last year to institutions linked to a charity on a UN terror blacklist, it has emerged.

The charity, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, denies accusations that it is a front for the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group.

Punjab officials say the funds were humanitarian in nature and were not given directly to the charity.

Jamaat-ud-Dawa and four senior Lashkar-e-Taiba leaders were added to a UN sanctions list in December 2008.

They were accused of having links to al-Qaeda and the Taliban. The move by the UN Security Council came shortly after attacks on the Indian city of Mumbai (Bombay), for which Lashkar-e-Taiba was blamed.

It is the first time that the authorities in Pakistan have formally admitted allocating money to institutions linked to Jamaat-ud-Dawa, BBC correspondents say.

The government has long been under international pressure to crack down on militants or groups suspected of supporting them. There was no immediate response from the government in Islamabad.

'Humanitarian'

News that schools and hospitals run by Jamaat-ud-Dawa have received Pakistan state help is unlikely to go down well with the Indian or US governments.
Funding details came to light when the Punjab provincial government published spending figures for 2009-10.

"At least 80 million rupees [$940,000] have been allocated for the institutions [linked to Jamaat-ud-Dawa] during the current fiscal year," Rana Sanaullah, a senior Punjab minister, told the BBC.

However, he maintained that the institutions - which include two schools and a hospital - were no longer attached to Jamaat-ud-Dawa.

"The government has taken control of the schools and appointed an administrator to run each of them."

He said the UN had been notified as the issue was a humanitarian one.

"There was a boys' school with 400 students, a girls' high school with 350 students and a hospital which addressed the needs of the entire area in question.

"If we had closed down the institutions it would have proved counter-productive. It would have aggravated the sentiments of the people and made them sympathise with [Jamaat-ud-]Dawa."

Charity 'astonished'

When asked why the Punjab government had allotted money in the budget for institutions it managed, a spokesman for Jamaat-ud-Dawa, Hafiz Abdur Rehman, said: "The truth is that we are ourselves astonished at this."

He said the institutions in question were now being managed by the charity.

"When restrictions were initially imposed upon us, the Punjab government did appoint an administrator but it was neither liked nor accepted by our people.

"By the grace of God, now everything is running exactly the way it was running under the Jamaat's system."

Jamaat-ud-Dawa has frequently denied accusations that some of its schools are used as militant training camps.

Its leader is Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, who set up Lashkar-e-Taiba, one of most feared groups fighting against Indian rule in part of the disputed territory of Kashmir.

After it was banned in Pakistan in 2002, the organisation divided itself into Jamaat-ud-Dawa and Lashkar-e-Taiba, correspondents say.

Jamaat-ud-Dawa now works as an Islamic charity all over Pakistan. It played a major role in relief efforts following the Kashmir earthquake in 2005.

Pakistan arrested Lashkar-e-Taiba's senior leaders after the Mumbai attacks. But most of them, including Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, were later freed on appeal.

So much for guys saying those organisations are being run by the govt.

Clearly JUD seems to be incharge of running those institutions.

This article clearly shows Pak government's dubious role about acting against banned terrorist organisations which it funds.

gov of panjab pay it direct to jud ?????? wow its first time i read.
