Pakistan snubs Cameron visit

I don't see what the point of this 'snub' is. It's too little, too late from Zardari (remember, Gilani was in Turkey on a 4 day visit so wouldn't have been there to meet Cameron).

The time for the snub was when our country was being wrecked by floods, and Zardari like the beghairat that he is, flew to the UK (via his chateau in France) to meet Cameron.

That was shortly after the comments Cameron had made against us in India.

Where was the snub then? That was the time to do it, not belatedly now.

Nothing to rejoice or be proud about IMO. The damage was done back in August. This is a pointless PR exercise that doesn't mask the stupidity of how Zardari behaved - which was an insult to the people of Pakistan, and Pakistani's around the world.

It's not about giving up on nations. It's about making a principled stand. A matter that our erstwhile 'leaders' are incapable of doing, because they'd sell their mother for a few extra bob or two if they could.

The UK is one of our largest aid donors, and contributed heavily to the aid effort post-floods. No one is asking for a boycott, or anything dramatic. But the insensitivity of the Cameron remarks were brutal, and they needed to be treated as such.

We expected strong words of condemnation at the very least, and even those to be in public, but what we got was plenty of handshakes and the usual mouth full of smiling teeth from Zardari when he went to the UK.

If Cameron visits India and gives us a dressing down, that's bad enough. To do so when we're trying to deal with our worst natural disaster in living memory, and a plane crash that's just killed 154 people smacks of crass ineptitude.

It wasn't your usual comments that nations with their tongues perched high up India's backside make to please their audience. These were totally unacceptable in the context, and in the finger-jabbing way they were made.

He was criticised for it, he's learnt his lesson, but our response was poor and totally underwhelming

I totally agree with your point. The thing was what i was saying was for those posters who were getting paranoid and giving statements like to give away UK, France, US for the sake of statements given in India.

Look up the meaning of the word prudent before you brandish it in this context. The phrase that fits your sentence above is "childish and stupid".

By this coin, India should have immediately left all international organizations that ever criticized it. And should have given back all the aid accrued since 1947 from any country whose leader ever chastised it. Before giving us suggestions, I would recommend you practice what you preach.
