Pakistan, Russia agree to boost defence cooperation

If Pakistan is thinking that Russia will sale Fighter Jets to India and Air Defence System to Pakistan, then it will be stupidest thing that they can ever imagine ..Same applies to Russia!!!

it would actually be quite smart on their part if they did that.....they are the suppliers; india happens to be a major purchaser of Russian arms. But they aren't the only purchaser. india isn't in the position to "threaten" Russia simply because india would lose much more (e.g. Pak-FA venture)

and besides....fighter jets can be used offensively. S-300s and med/hi alt. air defence systems can not. One feels stupid when they are forced to state the obvious for others.





p.s. all this talk of air defence cooperation is speculation anyways...let them meet first

well, nobody imagined it decades ago but then again who knew then that Americans would be trying to cajole and woo india into buying their arms either -- 2 countries that were on the opposite side during the Cold War.

like i said -- all speculation.

this may be more of a breaking the ice type thing....such professional official visits have been quite rare. Either something or nothing could materialize save for a handshake and a bowl of borsht.


me personally, i'd like to see a few S-300s in Pakistan for trial purposes, see how it fares.

Or may be Sukhoi 35 , 60 plane deal by Pakistan Airforce ? who knows

Or 100 Attack helicopters to fight Talibans around mountainous regions


Pakistan will give Russia 20-30 Billion dollar worth of business with Energy deals so getting 2-3 billion dollar worth of Sukhoi fighters or SAM S300 would be good gesture for promoting regional power balance
