Pakistan ready to hand Arabian Sea port to China

They are countries who have compromised. Ideally no country wants to give its territory to another nation for military use.

Giving access to warships for repair is different from giving the base entirely to the Chinese-which is what the article hints at.

Ideally considering a news as last word and testimony to hand over own "territory" to someone is a silly assumption.

Pakistan has given bases to US for operations in the region on war on terror too.

Our forces are not silly to follow anything blindly without a clear plan.

but again even if we agree with your emotions the bottom line is

"Why Indians should be telling us what is good for us and what is not"

Indians will be the last people , Pakistan should trust,

Period

:) so all those countries who have given you bases are plain silly ?

It is very much about Pakistan. And uptill now India has been spreading their phobia about Gwadar saying it will give Pakistan and China a big military edge and suddenly now you are using all your force to convince us that its purely a commercial port and that hey its bad for Pakistan.

BTW its our internal issue whether bad or good thats our decision and who are Indians to get worried over our sovereignty ?

Exactly, Its Pakistanis port, whatever they like to do with it, their choice, nobody should poke their nose into their internal affair.

Shame on those so-called Indian's concern, its nothing but insecure double standard mentality in full display as usual. Wondering how low they are willing to go. :china::pakistan:

So you're saying that there isn't even a teensy-weensy ****-a-snook at India wrt Gwadar and China? Honestly?

Here's how this pans out IMO. You hand over Gwadar to the Chinese, Indian hawks start screeching "CHINESE BASE!!!" and IN gets a get out of jail free card, and lots more fancy toys.

Maybe we'll buy the UK super-carriers. Wow, actually that should be awesome. Overkill, but still awesome.

Then welcome to the arm race.We have no problem to maintain at least 3 times bigger defence buget than you.

Ahhhhhhhh, the Indians have jumped in and lecturing us on what to do with our port.

Why don't you guys manage your own ports and let us decide what to do with our ports, whom to give and whom not to. We can make better judgment for our own assets, and if the govt has decided for this to happen, this means they have given it a good thought and knows what is best for Pakistan.

And its not giving control to the China, its talking about the management of the port controlling authority, and with China getting it, they are gonna bring in billions of dollar's investment in the infrastructure, which in the long run would be beneficial for Pakistan, as it will attract trade and FDI.

We don't have billions to invest in this project, but the Chinese have, and we can earn from it too, so better to earn whatever we can, rather then keep the project shut off, why waste a resource.

Let this first step happen, then we can see what happens in the future regarding the docking facility to Chinese Naval ships, atleast start the economic progress.

Well, offcourse, you have every right to think about yourself. No argument on that.

But its just about comfort levels.

Though India/China are increasing bilateral relations, but still there is some suspicion in both of them against each other.

Given China's strong military links with Pakistan, Increased Chinese military presence will call for Indian counter-measures in terms of buying more weapons and increased patrolling.

:) you are already buying and no one can stop you from that.

We are also uncomfortable with your buying frenzy but all those defence deals can not be stopped by us and on the basis of those big defence deals India is also blocking Pakistani purchases by threatening the sellers if they sold anything to Pakistan India will cancel its purchase.

This Indian blackmailing is visible already.

In such a situation Pakistan has to take steps which are good for us.

"Hand over the port to china". This is simply a total surrender of pakistan's sovereignty . As the article suggested this is not just a BOT (Build, Operate, Transfer) but rather an unconditional surrender. What will pakistan gain by having the Chinese consolidate its hold over it? Become one of Chinese satellite states?. The future is bleak indeed and not a reason for jubilation.

So I understand, military escalation in the region is going to increase even more with Chinese presence.

Honestly, this is, to the nest of my understanding, primarily commercial

What Indians decide for themselves is their business - but like I said resolve Kashmir, good for you, good for us, then bring over merchant marine and IN for good will visit.

I know this is getting lost somewhere - but there are two other naval bases close to Gwadar, at least one of which will be upgraded to another world class port.

Hust for a minute, just for a minute, get out of the US "lets make war" worldview and think about business - remember those "lives of dignity" they will be built on business, not on playing big bad ***, there's always someone bigger and badder, - think business, think people doing well, and most importantly think Kashmir resolved and normal relations, think a SAARC with China, think energy security -- think!

But the Chinese completely developed the poet for their strategic benefit,i found it completely surprising why Pakistan handed over its right to a company from Singapore rather than China.

And by the way does China controlling the port means that it will b their's forever and Pakistan will not have any right's over the transit and berthing fees in the future?

First get your nationality and location flags corrected to India, then talk about Pakistan, so that we know who is talking about Pakistan and whose perspective it is.

Perhaps the article could be more provocatively worded? what do you think?

With the Darth Vader theme playing in the background - Angraiz Ki tau baat hi kuch aur hai

sirjee - he is our angraiz - f/bokhari!!!

First Aksai Chin, now the gawader port? lmao next is gonna be Balochistan? Tribal Areas? :disagree: Sad really

but there are two other naval bases close to Gwadar

one is Ormara and the other is Pasni !?

Its about the management of the port, PSA is managing the port, its operations and had to invest in it too, so that it develops further.

If a Chinese company takes over, they are gonna manage the port operations.

China has already invested in the port and they have certain reasons for that, which will help us greatly too and generate lot of economic activity.

Here read this and have an idea:

The Angraiz I was referring to was the publication -- I love the comments, they border on the hysterical, next tribal areas, hell, why stop there, why not Lahore and karachi, but we'll save Faisalabad for the Indians, cuz we're mean spirited - They want to see an eventuality but want that eventuality for free.

And there they were complaining that they have cordial relations with neighbors, like Bhutan --

Think Bijnis friends, the US will enough make hostilities overt and just like that, it's be over and they will go away - not because Osama did it to them, not because Pakistan did it to them - they did it to themselves, yet another war, with an "ally" really??

Indian friends should think of themselves - Pakistan is a small little country but the Indian coastline is vast - enough to keep a large navy busy for a long time --- OR -- we could do business like normal ordinary persons.
