NEW DELHI: A Pakistani ISI officer had promised two hitmen Rs 1.2 lakh to kill the Indian consul general in Afghanistan's Jalalabad province, spokesperson for the Afghanistan National Intelligence Agency Lutfullah Mashal said on Thursday. Afghan security services has nabbed the two men.

Mashal said the two men confessed that ISI hired and paid them to kill the Indian consul general. "Well, these two guys have very clearly confessed that they were hired by ISI, they were paid by ISI and they were promised that if they killed the Indian consul general, they would be paid 1.20 lakh, which is a big amount of money in Afghanistan," he said.
