Pakistan offers India bilateral arrangement on non-testing of nuclear weapons

Good diplomatic move by Pakistan, india's
rejection will push india into corner as it tries to convince the world it is a responsible nuclear power

Whilst Pakistan knows India wont accept and after india's refusal Pakistan can just shrug and say we tried

The clever part being Pakistan would never accept it anyway but this was heat and blame falls on india:lol:

Chanikkaya:tup::enjoy:

This vindicates the point that the offer by Pak is inconsequential & more like an attempt to appear accomodative . No one gets fooled by a show of such dried fig leaves.

North Korea ?

It doesn't really vindicate it... the CTBT just prevents nuclear testing on your territory.

It's like having a AR-15 in your house but locked away behind a Class 5W level safety cabinet that takes 20 minutes to open up. It's a feel good measure that can lead/promote confidence building.

To be honest, i'm not sure why Pakistan or India feels it's necessary for both itself and the other to be in a treaty only if it includes the other. Jointing a ban treaty isn't a weakness.

Perhaps Pakistan wanted to extend a fig leaf so the next NSG meeting could be talked about India joining :P
