Also, India using and retiring Sea King is irrelevant. There are more than 2 dozen current/former sea king users

NH90 is not a good choice for PN. The most likely induction will be Z-20F/J though I think we should have a shore based chopper with better capabilities like the AW101, even if in fewer numbers though unlikely given how expensive these are.

NH90s are known to be littered with problems. Its laughably bad, a fully equipped soldier is heavy enough to punch a hole through the interior floor skin. Just like the EC Tiger, its a very flawed aircraft.

Yes - That was the intriguing part of the news.

Just Two instances :

1- In March 2014, it was announced that a Dutch NH90 had suffered higher than expected fuselage wear and corrosion following an extended deployment at sea; analysis by the Dutch National Aerospace Laboratory attributed the corrosion to design and assembly flaws. However, the aircraft were not grounded.

2- In Germany case - In 2010, a report by a German army expert panel was leaked to the German daily Bild. It listed several problems with the NH90's interior and concluded that it was not well-suited for transporting soldiers, especially if they were carrying heavy equipment. It added the worrying detail that there was not enough room to use the machine gun that was meant to be mounted inside.

D version has better sensor suite, and is capable of surface warfare (YJ9 AShM) alongside anti submarine warfare.
