Mmm, well what if that refurbishing means "bringing the airframe back to 'zero milage' condition"?

Aziqbal, good to see you too. How's everything back there on the sister forum?

The 2 destroyed ones haven't been replaced yet...and their delivery is still pending approval. Also, one P3C was lost in a crash off the coast of Balochistan.

Which leaves 7 P3Cs in PN inventory...

I am not sure, but Penguin can you please confirm?

Some are in USA for the radar/EW upgrade, right?

According to Allan warn in the latest AFM issue 2 more P3C have been delivered to PN.

Newly%2520Inducted%2520P3C%2520Aircraft.JPG

Karachi, Feb 21:The second batch of two modified P3C aircraft were inducted into PN Fleet at Naval Aviation Base in Karachi. The aircraft modified with latest avionics/sensors are part of US assistance being provided to Pakistan Navy under FMF (Foreign Military Funding) programme. Pakistan Navy is to receive a total of six such aircraft from US in batches of two each. The first batch was inducted into Pakistan Navy in 2010.

The aircraft has extended surveillance capability which will help Pakistan Navy maintain requisite vigil in our vital area of interest in North Arabian Sea. The area regarded as an important trade and energy corridor for the global economy, is home to intense maritime activity both legal and illegal and thus warrants continuous guard.

Speaking at the induction ceremony, the Chief Guest Vice Admiral M Zakaullah welcomed the addition of P3C aircraft which will significantly add to the combat potential of Pakistan Navy Fleet. The ceremony was attended by a large number of serving and retired Pakistan Navy personnel.

We are operating five P3's. 2 more are to be delivered. Bringing the total to seven.

The original plan was to induct 12 to 15 birds. But the 2 AEW/AWACS systems are in limbo and two P3C's were destroyed and one was lost near Gawader in an earlier accident.

All are, I believe, being upgraded or have been upgraded.

This is where the P3C, acquisitions stands today.

The mystery eighth aircraft (Off the later acquistion) remains a mystery. Or was it was a spares a/c? There are no P3C hulks visible on NAS PNS Mehran.

How about in near future PAC and CAC creating a similar aircraft with the same wing area or may be better with composites, stealth, in flight refueling and most important with two turbo prop engines with 7 wide blades.
