It is official done, today!
As in the history of pakistan USA relationship, it seems US admin looking desperate to keep, pakistan in its yard?
Pakbahria ko bohat bohat, mubarak.

we paid 1000 time more in support for these assets nothing for free
if our support was valued it would be worth at least 100-200 billion dollar is what our econmy lost

These assets are a minor gesture for return on our support

The ideal support we should have recieved should have been

100 Cobras
4 F16 Refueling Tankers
20 Chinooks
20 Preditor Drones to take part in any operations

USA is like a kid that has some toys and only wants to play by himself , and not share the toys

A thank is must but still , we just are being taken for a ride with free loading support and loss to economy

Express has also reported it, seems vague as if this is replaced one or a new purchase. The aircraft looks pretty neat and new, so i guess its one of the new deliveries.

The P-3 is a new induction.

Serial number 80. We have 81,82,83,84,85,86,87,88,89, and 80. So ten aircraft.

84 and 87 I think were lost in PNS Mehran incident. One more in that crash (83 i think). So we have a total of seven now.

This was the last one under the agreement with US of 7 refurbished aircraft.
Breguet Atlantic phased out.

Where is that Eye hawk radar on P3 promised earlier? Will it be given to us? India is getting some!:mod:

Navy inducts P3C aircraft to its aviation fleet

By Our Staff Reporter | 9/6/2012

KARACHI, Sept 5: Pakistan Navy (PN) on Wednesday inducted into its aviation fleet another P3C long-range maritime patrol aircraft received from the US under the security assistance programme.

The P3C is the same aircraft type that was destroyed in a terrorist attack on the PNS Mehran Base on May 22, 2011. At the time two aircraft parked in the base hangers were damaged in the fire while one was completely destroyed. The ones damaged were later repaired.

The P3C aircraft, being a potent air platform, assists in maintaining protracted vigil over the sea to meet legitimate defence needs while safeguarding Pakistan`s maritime interests, according to a PN handout.

At the induction ceremony, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral M. Asif Sandila, the chief guest on the occasion, praised the efforts undertaken in enhancing PN capabilities and operational readiness.

Highlighting the importance of North Arabian Sea and capacity building of the PN, he said that it was essential to ensure security in the North Arabian Sea and keep sea routes safe for maritime community. He reiterated PN`s resolve to remain part of a multi-national force present in the North Arabian Sea and off the Somali coast.

DAWN

Although initially embargoed, Pakistan eventually took delivery of an initial three P3C’s which entered service in 1999, although one of them was lost on October 29, 1999. The type was grounded soon afterwards and the two survivors remained in storage for some years, but were refurbished and returned to service in 2006-7.

The aircraft inducted yesterday is the last of seven additional ex-USN P3C’s that are being delivered, the first two of which were delivered in 2007, whilst the next pair was formally inducted into service on June 1, 2010, followed by two more on February 21, 2012. A terrorist attack by militants at PNS Mehran on May 22, 2012, however resulted in the destruction of two of the Orion’s on the ground.

Delivered; 3 + 7 = 10
In service; 2+5 = 7
Attrition; 1+2 = 3

2 French origin Atlantic 1150 MPA have also been activated and inducted into service from storage.

So where are those 3 P-3Cs AEW&Cs which were included in the deal. If not wrong then there might some in the US being fitted with the Hawk Eye systems.

They were a possibility but not a confirmed order!
I don't see this is happening now..
Also with more and more Chinese equipment coming in PN, i think Y-9 will be PN next target. But that will take LOTS of time as at the moment, PN is quite satisfied with P-3C and these have been recently upgraded.
The funds, if and when available will be used for more important procurements and not Y-9 as for now!

regards!

Since NATO supply has resumed and it seems that things are back to business between US and Pak, shouldn't we be looking towards acquiring more P-3C, to replace the ones that got lost due due to our negligence and the fact that we can't protect high value assets.

Inducted?

Atlantic got back from storage? I thought they were retired in this ceremony.

Delivered; 3 + 7 = 10
In service; 2+5 = 7
Attrition; 1+2 = 3

The attrition is of Serial number 84,87 in PNS Mehran, and 83 in the crash off Pasni.
