Pakistan Navy capable of blocking Strait of Hormuz?

It would be outright criminal by Pak Navy if EU and US santioned Pakistan we could atleast block the damn strait of Hormouz.

Probably not. Hormuz is critical to Russia. If Pakistan try to block it, Russia supply Bastion anti ship system to Iran and sink Pakistan's war ships.

And you have any solutions, how to fight back joint USA ans EU in what wat ways?

Blocking Strait of Hormouz should be Pak Navy main aim.

If I were Pakistan, I would seek an intervention. An intervention from China and Russia. Because otherwise, even if you implement a blockade, it will be broken in days by US and/or EU.

I think currently there's a bigger possibility to block the strait, especially since Qatar allows Pakistan's navy to operate on its shores.

Hi,

After all this discussion---now you Kids understand how important it was for pakistan to send forces and take charge of GCC defense at the start of Yemen crisis---.

With a 150 K troops stationed there with navy---army---air force for GCC only---the question of blockage would not even arise---. Pak would have been in control---.

Stop talking non sense.

You think that Arabs are going to allow PN to block their oil export route just because Pakistan is going to provide them with mercenary forces?

India imports oil from Arab countries and Arabs make billions of income out of it, Arabs on the other hand count on the economic capacity of India as a future workforce and as a big growing economy.

Btw, Pakistan has already sent a mercenary general to KSA, and i am sure that the guy is not sent alone. KSA doesn't need Pakistani navy support since French, British and American navies have already blocked/bombed Yemen and Yemeni coastal installations. They at most need the help of Pakistani ground forces to be on the frontline.

The advantage of Yemen is not its shores, hence PN is of no use in this war against poorest people of Middle East and Africa. Yemen fires BMs, CMs and also undetectable drones. In which case Pakistan can do nothing to stop.

it has nothing to do with capabilities but all about having balls ...

someone resurrected a brain fart from the past.
The GCC and Iran aren't just going to let Pakistan block the strait.
And in case you've forgotten the US has six military bases in the region Oman plus UAE.

I am seeing hillarious responses. People should also bother to read the contents of the post and not just the title. He specifically said about only indian ships

The title "Blocking Strait for Hormuz" (Appears to be blocking for entire naval trade) obviously people will jump and make funny comments which I am reading here. PN won't stop any other ship at all. PN would be only looking for indian origin ships.

Title should be:

Is PN Capable to stop indian bound ships & indian incoming ships ?

Now, that's a valid question. and its a technical question. Its not even political question. If the full scale war erupts, you will be a fool to let the fuel that drive your opponent's war pass right under your nose. Ofcouse, PN would try and stop any indian oil tanker / trade ships. Could even blow it if need be.

PN never had enough vessels to guard its Karachi port let alone reserving the ships to block indian oil & trade vessels. This is the first time in history, PN is about to get that many ships. IMO, if PN can allocate 10 submarines on main front and allocate only 1 submarine and OPVs to stop any indian bound ships from strait for Hormuz then it could create significant problems for india. They in response would require many times larger fleet, if they will commit to open this route. This could also work to divide the indian fleet. I am just speculating but saying that this is all war tactics and actually a technical question about abilities.

Until 2019, india was receiving 84% of its cruide oil from strait of Hormuz. The number would have gone downwards seeing increased indian imports from Russia. But it would be still significant.

If Indians can talk about block strait of Malacca for Chinese shippings then blocking strait of Hormuz for indian ships is nothing in comparison, its literally in neighborhood from Gwadar.

Hi,

That was not an intelligent comment from you---but guess what---you write your mind---.

If Pak military was in Yemen / GCC---blocking straits of Hormuz would not even arise---would not become an issue.

The US had requested Pak military to take charge of Yemen crisis---it would have been upto pak military to decide what to do---.

India would have been in no position to threaten already established pak military in the region---.

@dbc----young person----think before you talk----. You excel at the equipment you use---so stay within those parameters---.

OP is taking about blockading Indian bound oil ships only.

No country will be stupid enough to ask Pakistan to not blockade Indian bound oil tanks when countries are at war and vice versa. PN will be targeting Oil tankers and terminals at Indian port regardless of their origin.

Yes, PN can do that. Indian will have to allocate good chunk of their Navy just to escort their oil shipments, which will leave Indian coastal cities and bases without much defense.

Distance from Jiwani, Pakistan to Sur, Oman is 200 miles, Any Indian Naval ship entering this narrow alley to escort oil tankers will be entering a kill zone. Both land and sea based sensors will quickly pick up any large naval activity. Land based anti-ship missiles alone will overwhelm anything Indian Navy has at this moment.

If you replace PN with PLAN, even USN will not be able to survive the (200 mile wide ) narrow kill zone
