Pakistani military planes violated Indian air space twice this year, and a total of 23 such incidents have taken place in the last three years, government told the Lok Sabha on Monday.

In a written reply to the House, Defence Minister AK Antony said, "During the last three years — 2009-2011 — and the current year, 23 incidents of air violation by planes of Pakistan defence forces were reported."

Denying that there has been an increase in incidents of air space violation by aircraft of Pakistani defence forces, Antony said, "All such violations are analysed and taken up with concerned country through laid down channels as per established procedures."

The minister was asked whether incidents of violation of international air space rules at the Indo-Pak border by the planes of Pakistan defence forces were rising, and what the frequency of such violations by Pakistan during the last three years was.

Antony said the Pakistani military aircraft violated Indian air space eight times in 2009.

The maximum number of these incidents took place in 2010, when Pakistani planes transgressed into Indian territory on 11 occasions. In 2011, two incidents were reported, he said.

In reply to a question on recent military exercise 'Shoor Veer' along the western border, Antony said, "The exercise was conducted as part of a periodic training event to practice battle drills and procedures in the designated areas of training."

The exercise was conducted in Suratgarh in Rajasthan from April 20 to May 5, and elements of the Indian Air Force (IAF) had also participated in it, he said.

these jokes between fighters happen always i think block-52 guys making fun with india lolz:D

.
i think report is not from a credible source, IAF dont want to loose its fighters to PAF and leave open air space for China :)

. .
1) The source is not credible.
2) 23 violation and not a peep before, seems legit(sarcasm).
3) This is for the OP: You don't just go around shooting random planes down in peace time, this is the real world, not your childhood game of Good guy-Bad Guy, shooting down another country's planes represent a significant effort at messing up relations. We've all heard of those Su-30s that crossed over in 2009 and were escorted back to Indian Airspace and the Chopper that Pakistan allowed to land on it's airbase for the duration of a storm in Siachen after the chopper crossed over accidentally, guess that lays the death blow to your claims that Pakistan wants hostilities with India.

Isnt there a 5-10 mile no-fly zone near the IB/LOC? Any intrusion in this area, accidental or otherwise, is still considered a violation per se, no?
And as for ISRO scientists dismissing the Shaheen-1 as nothing spectacular, I do believe there are solid reason for their claims. You see, scientists can sniff out the quality of ones work by simply reading the abstract. Their experience gives them an insight to understand or picture the story based on a few details available in an abstract. So, given the origins of missiles in Pakistani arsenal ,their history of tests and availability of data on original missiles, their guess would be that off the mark.
